In January, we will be having year 3 of our miniature painting contest! Starting January 2nd (or anytime thereafter), bring in an unpainted miniature as evidence that it is, indeed, unpainted. (It can be glued, modded, and/or primed, if you want.) We will photograph it for posterity! Then, it must be completely painted by February 2nd in order to be entered into our painting contest, which will be judged over the next two weeks by three different panels: A panel of experts at Nexus, You, the people, and Staff at Games Workshop!! You can enter as many times, in as many categories as you want, but it’s a $5 fee per entry, all of which is converted into prize support. Winners will be announced on February 24th! kingstonnexus.ca/events/nexus-golden-brush-awards-2018/

Now, what are the categories? And can these be models from any gaming system or just GW?

Cheers, I've got a Warlord games Panzer III on the way so will probably enter this, and GW shouldn't have a problem as most of their HQ now work for Warlord anyway.

Hmm, this may tie in nicely with a January painting challenge!

After their grand performance at the Secret Santa, I think it's time I painted new fire warriors! They were the first unit I painted in this colour scheme and I've really changed up how I do things. Looks like one of my unit entries will be a squad of 10.

Hmm, I don't think I have anything that isn't "in progress" already in my Club Champ painting list, and definitely don't have time to do something off of that - I'll dig through, I might be able to swing creating a new Chaos Lord or something. Actually, I think I'm lying, I just have to finish kitbashing the Termie Lord, can probably get him done in time.

Kit bashing and modding is allowed correct? Yup. Doesn't even need to be a GW model.

Kit bashing and modding is allowed correct? yep absolutely... just have to show them the unpainted stuff so they know you're doing it during the contest

Question: while we just need to have the primed/bare models photographed, what's the story when we're done and want to submit them?
Are they handed over to the store on February 2nd for judging and we get them back in two weeks?

You basically bring in the unpainted/primed/bare/unassembled (whichever you want to start with) model into Nexus to show them. They take a picture. You pay your $5 entry fee for the category (all entry fees go to prizes)
when you're done you bring in your model, they put it in a display case for voting. Then when it's all done you get your model back!
(I'm sure you can of course take your model out of the case at any time to use it!)
