Thank you so much guys! The support has been amazing, and it really means a lot. Afraid the clowns won't be at champs. I don't have 2000 points worth yet, and I don't really know their play style well enough for a competitive setting. They should be out for great crusade though

Thanks They've been fun to paint. And I like how they only need the same colours, not the same pattern. It really opens things up for a lot of variance, while adding that fun hint of uniqueness to each.

So I lied, there is an encore: imgur.com/gallery/WGxrJc5Received a lot of suggestions on how to improve it, and wanted to see how much further I could take it.

I finally worked up the nerve to try my hand at wet blending. I think it's coming along well, but if anyone has any pointers they would be greatly appreciated. I'm also looking for ways to bring out the depth of the wing membrane's texture. Would a dry brush of a light grey, with a slight purple tinge, be the way to go? imgur.com/a/ln9IVTz

Finished the wet blending on the other wing, and added a dry brush to bring out the ridges. Thoughts? imgur.com/a/II3fvVE

nicely done... the dry brush works (that's what I always do afterwards myself)

nicely done... the dry brush works (that's what I always do afterwards myself) Thanks! What I'm really wondering is does it work? Wet blending has seemed so daunting for so long, and I guess I'm just paranoid that I did something wrong.

yep, it gives you the transitions, and that's really all that "blending" is... to create a gradual transition from one colour to the next. People are generally some where along the continuum of "none" to "amazing" with blending (this is something Justin does very well for example whereas I'm in the more "pretty okay" range with it)
If you want to really knock it out of the park, nothing blends like an airbrush (and super duper amazing training this summer on this at Nexus if you're interested) but when it comes to basic brush, it's literally a practice, practice, practice approach... and you get better and better over time.

Looks pretty spot on to me! Better than my wet blending; that's for sure.
