Just as an FYI - the nexus site now shows who's on what team etc. to help with your listbuilding. There's currently SIX out of town teams (2 from London, 2 from Brockville, 1 from Sudbury, 1 from Peterborough).
so I realize it can be frustrating for local people who aren't used to our tournies filling up SO quickly this far in advance (still lots of spots for Highlander though - go get one of them! lol) and we're trying to expand as much as we can while still having things be somewhat bearable space wise.
There are 48 people registered for this tournament... we've got 8 more spots to bring us up to 14 teams... I know Kevin and Jordan both have teams ready to go... please register ASAP to grab those spots
I'm not sure physically how many people can fit - even though this is only requiring 14 tables once we fill - there's four people around each table and I'm sure you all need air to breathe at least)
I'm not saying 14 teams is the limit, but that is FIFTY SIX bodies in Nexus. So we cannot expand to an unlimited degree (20 tables were in play for club champs - that would be 80 people in Nexus at this tourney, which I'm certain would just kill us all)
If you want a spot. Grab it.
We also require an even number of teams for this tourney... so expanding beyond 14 teams means we have to have enough for 16 teams....
(to put this in perspective - the first three years of this tourney we had FIVE teams only and I was looking to completely revamp it to have it survive... I never, ever thought it would grow this big, this fast)

Was there supposed to be a thread checking for spot availability and/or setting up teams? I haven't seen one.

I haven't seen one. to be honest I was shocked at how quickly this filled up... by the time I registered my team I was on a waiting list myself! and we've got two months to go! I think there's a thread up for a couple people looking for team mates

I put it up last night. It's in general 40k discussion. Was there supposed to be a thread checking for spot availability and/or setting up teams? I haven't seen one.

I believe our team is currently double-booked due to a miscommunication, so there should be one more slot available (currently it says that there is no room left).

I'm impressed we are pulled 2 teams from London. That's close to a 5 hour drive.

Friendly reminder for those out of town teams attending: The Kingston meta is a little different than you may be used to in that we are generally of the mindset of friendly to "tough but fair" style lists. There are no ITC points given out for attending/winning. There are no prizes given out to placing high/winning the tournaments here. ALL prizes are draw prizes. You can lose every single game and still walk out with the biggest prize on the table. There is literally no incentive whatsoever in bringing those brutal netlists that you may see elsewhere at big GT's or more "competitive" communities. The primary goal here is that everyone has a fun time, win or lose. If you attend tournaments to win that's perfectly fine, we all like to win! But win-at-all-costs is generally frowned upon here. I take the unconventional stand that it is your responsibility to ensure as much as possible that your opponent has a fun, challenging and friendly experience. That may not be everyone's mindset, so I just wanted you to know WAY before hand that this is what is expected at Kingston Gaming Nexus tournaments. What we have works for us, and if you'd like to experience THAT kind of tournament, then welcome aboard, we're glad to have you! If that's not your thing, no problem - there's lots of tournies that cater to a different experience! I just wouldn't want you to be disappointed when you arrive here and things are not to that ultra competitive mindset and you don't find the GT level lists, ITC points and prizes for winning that you might have expected. tough but fair... and fun

Just as an FYI - the nexus site now shows who's on what team etc. to help with your listbuilding. How do we get that updated? Connor registered us so does he have to tell nexus or just tell you?

Everything goes through nexus... they're in charge of all registrations and everything on the site... I'm literally just like all of you with respect to my access to that stuff

I can't fully speak this far ahead but I can probably help out with rules/organization stuff for at least one of the days. Didn't even get close to looking for a team before this one filled up.

I was pretty shocked at how quickly we filled up... 56 people is pretty crazy
