As the name suggest. Thinking of doing a Campaign prior to clubs starting in Jan.
I am going to need the book before giving a detail list of my plan. But will likely be incorporating my team Campaign idea into it. I am away in BC when the campaign book comes out and going to try and build a fun campaign for all. But right now I am looking to see who would be interested.
Probably run it on two or three Saturdays between Jan 1 and clubs. It would be one game during the day on each day.
Would need minimum eight players. Could probably do six but eight be better.

I have been playing around with this idea for the past 5 years since I played in a weekend Tournament at the Games workshop in Winnipeg. The release of the Vigilus Campaign just adds the right time for this. This Campaign will work as follows.
The Intent will be a joint Team Event. Attacker vs Defender
The Vigilus Campaign book 1 Also known as the War of the Beasts (WoB) has many options on how to play it . The Campaign will be broken down into 3 phases and there will be two mission packages per phase [more on this]. In this Campaign, Players will be in a Team of 3. 3 Attackers and 3 Defenders.
At the start of each day event, teams will be given a mission package. In the package will be 3 missions. Players will pick what mission they wish to do in secret (without the other team knowing), and then hand them to me (Chris). Once I have both packages from each team I will assign players too tables. Each team will have a Team Captain, Team Captains will be given special Privileges which I’ll discuss later.
This is a Campaign. And what makes Campaigns fun? Unit and Warlord Progression! The Chapter approved 2018 (CA) offered a few cool ideas for Open Play, and Narrative play and we am going to take advantage of them.
- Army Building/progression.
Each game will be 2000pts. Each army must have a Warlord who is not named. This model must be your warlord throughout the course of the Campaign. At the end of each phase Your Warlord will advance and roll on the charts on page 15 and 16 of the CA It will be broken down as follows;
End of Phase 1; Weapon Improvements
End of Phase 2: Psychic Enhancements or Characteristic Modifiers
End of Phase 3: Additional Abilities
The team who is out on top in Vigilus Campaign points at the end of the phase will have re-rolls for this.
You must Name your Non-named Warlord. I will do my best throughout the course of the campaign to keep track of your deeds. Maybe even build a synopsis of your Warlord at the end of the WoB.
But it isn’t just your Warlord who improves. For this Campaign we are going to try out Battle Honours as per the CA page 20 – 25. Each unit will gain experience points as per CA. I will keep track of the Master page, however through the course of your battle keep track of who kills what or who. At the end of your match I will work with you to tally your Experience points. [to be more creative feel free to name each squad ]
Between each game you can change your army list, you do not have to include the same units [other than your warlord]. However new units start with 0 xp.
- Mission Packages
During each day we decide to meet , I will arrive early and set up tables for each mission. When teams arrive They will be given the mission packages. Each mission will be designed to articulate the progression of the battle on Vigilus.
Between each game I will post on the forums tidbits of info to better sell the events which transpired.
- Vigilus Campaign Points (VCP)
Teams will gain VCP throughout the course of the Campaign. I will provide a score sheet for this at the start of the first game.
- Team Captains
Team Captain (TC) will be given a few privileges. The main approach to the TC is to provide the idea that the team is working together. To illustrate this TC will be given 4 extra Command Points for each mission package. These Command Points can be used by any member of the team, However they must request the Command points with the TC at the start of their Turn. The TC can use them when ever he/she wants.
Throughout the course of the Campaign the TC may be given additional jobs…
Depending how this goes may want to start a different page for this under Battle Reports. Currently working on an idea for that.
Currently not likely. I need a day where everyone can be there at the same time. And Saturday is the best candidate as it is the day that 40k players are down at Nexus. Perhaps after the first game as a group we can pick a different day that would work better.
I have built a fun little campaign that I'll post the rules / background up This evening. Are people available to play on the 12th of Jan? and Those who are playing. Can you tell me what faction you intend to play. It does not have to be those involved in the Vigilus Campaign But kudos to you if you choose to. There will be bonus in the Campaign if you do.
