Hey there folks, You may have heard me talking about my awesome experience down in PA taking the CK studios airbrushing class. Well, I loved it so much that I thought that everyone in Kingston should get the opportunity to take it as well! So, over the past couple months, Mike and I have been working with Kat and Caleb to get them to bring their much vaunted Airbrushing 101 class to Nexus! If you have been interested in getting into airbrushing, but aren't sure where to start, this is, in my opinion, the best way to start. I had purchased a bunch of equipment, but before taking the class, I was too worried that I would "mess up" my gear, so I kept putting it off. Caleb was able to take me from zero to Hobby Hero in just two days of hardcore airbrushing instruction. Here is a link to their Fbook page: www.facebook.com/CKStudiosComePaintWithUs/And a link to their official website: ckstudios.bigcartel.com/product/ab-101-ontario-kingston-can-june-15-16-2019Even though I have already taken the class, I'll be signing up again, it was that good, and worth every penny. Where you might have heard the name before: The Independent Characters pretty much can't go a show without mentioning them. Caleb was the guy who painted up Carl's Reiver titan he won't stop going on about.

Do we sign up at Nexus or on their website?
EDIT: I should have followed the link apparently.... also we have to buy a contemptor eh?

That's why I'm posting it now. Put away $10 a week until the class and you'll be golden.

I mean, I'm going to scramble at the last minute because I procrastinate with everything... but this is a fantastic idea for people to do!

continuing to slam head against wall with this $$*!@# airbrush....
got it to push paint... incredibly badly
looks like the tip has a crack in it when I took everything apart for the umpteenth time... maybe it's the culprit, maybe it's not... maybe it's time to look at Amazon's return policy.

yup... tip has a crack... back to Amazon you go... 2 more hours this morning on it, and couldn't push anything more than alcohol or water through it... paint just made a mess of whatever I was trying to airbrush... more I look online the more it says "won't work with a cracked tip" and will cause all of the problems I'm experiencing... and this brand of airbrush is only $15 to buy a new tip online... and $20 shipping! (amazon is $30 for a tip, can't use prime and will not be shipped guarenteed in time for the workshop)
grrr.... NOT happy with this experience...
Those of you with airbrushes that are successful - what kind should I buy?
(because the online reviews said that the Talon was pretty damn good - I'm sure it's amazing when it works!)

I have a paasche VL series that my dad got me for my birthday this year. He has a background in air brushing and paints historical miniatures and jet models.
After watching a few hours of tutorials for air brushing ive managed to get a hang in base coating and highlighting infantry and I used the airbrush to paint like 80% of a sicaran

We have an Iwata airbrush setup and it has worked fairly well, so far. Minimal headaches, all metal and easy to clean.
While Leading Edge may be closing, the Daicars were still going to have an "online presence" for selling certain (I do know know what, exactly) products; it may be worth having a chat with them about the subject. Last time that I was in the store they seemed to have a modest amount of airbrush stuff left, too.
The airbrushing course looks neat, but between the cost and having to buy a model; especially when I already have plenty of GW stuff that needs painting and I do not play Space Marines. I understand their desire for simplicity in the lesson, with everyone working with the same materials, though.
If anyone needs an air-line, for their airbrush, we have a spare that is in great condition. PM me and we can work something out.

new airbrush made all the difference... the gradations I'm already getting on simple things like blue horrors are pretty sweet... can't wait to attend this course to figure out how to actually do this properly!

So once I get a new house so that I can house an airbrush, you're gonna teach me all you've learned right?
