Going to do this by weeks. That way I should be forcing myself to paint something. We will see how April is... Week 1 Did more painting this week than all of last year after clubs. Painted 40 Necron Tesla Immortals. Took me a while to get a scheme down, but once found basically made a large assembly line. imgur.com/a/xyMbcoOI’m amazed this is only 600 points. Hardest / longest part was rebasing most of them from 28mm to 32mm. I trimmed the edges of the 28mm off so all was left was the flat part that the model is glued to and then filed down the underside where it says Games Workshop and the mould lines and then glued them to the bigger base. went with purple lightning for the Tesla Carbines. It reminded me of old Tesla Coils. Taking tomorrow off to do Campaign. And back at it Sunday for more models.

Thanks.
I decided not to go with Unit markings. I like the Idea of a mass of identical Necrons. If there were Billions of Immortals in a tomb world, it is unlikely that there would be unit separation for 10 models.
I had to paint them all from scratch. Primed them black and then paint. I thought they were 40% done before I started but. not so much. It was a larger project than I thought.
But I am still on track for Clubs.

Week 2 Didn’t paint as much as I was hoping. Only got done 13 Immortals and 2 overlords. 392 points. imgur.com/a/ArraTkIFound a cool technique for the Gauss blasters but it takes time. Picked up my bases for blood bowl. 32mm with a slot so I can upgrade all my old metal immortals for next week. Need to do at least 500 points next week. Only 2 weeks left.

Week 3 Had a long night last night (Friday). But progress is shown. This week I felt I was falling behind so I forced myself to stay up and I’m happy I did. This week I completed 20 immortals, 3 Crypteks , and my Warlord-Overlord. Used a bunch of night haunt models for the Crypteks. My Warlord is wielding Void Reaper. So I like the way it turned out. The characters help increase the points for the week. Painted 673 points. imgur.com/a/Zao8Els

Week 5
I thought i would post something up here. I did take a week off painting after clubs. I am currently trying to figure out a few paint schemes for some Necron Deathmarks. Although they are similar molds to Immortals. I am trying to figure out something different.
Actually a good question to the community. Any advice on building Diorama style bases? Trying to find ways to up my score for next year.

diorama bases are difficult (hence that extra point beyond just a really good base) and involve things like differing heights, using terrain elements (see Lukas' flying statuary for his interceptors as a good example), multiple flocks, clean, believable terrain that fits a theme. Height changes are a good way of varying the "look" of the unit beyond everyone being at the exact same level. I've seem some water effects which are super nice as well. when the base looks like it's actually part of the display of the model (see Matt's thousand sons basing as a really good example of this) and integrates the board and a design element it looks pretty awesome. ie: if you can crank the bases out by the hundreds in an evening or two - gotta go further (not that there's anything wrong with speed basing - beats plain black by a mile! but dioramas take that extra level of time and overall planning)

Week 6 and 7.
Painted one lone death mark. And even then he isn’t based. So still working on the design. I find the hardest part is building a paint scheme.
Picked up the chaos half of shadowspear. Looking forward to painting them but again should I paint them as a dedicated legion or one that I make up. With a new and improved Abaddon coming out perhaps I’ll just paint them up as black legion and that would forgo the worry of paint schemes.
I also picked up a few resin kits from FW and elsewhere. But I am paranoid about sawing and sanding them. I have a. Respirator but what do you do to collect the fine particles on the work bench and how long do you normally wait until your done. I also have dogs in the house and worry about them for air borne particles... I could also just be blowing this out of proportion. Any advice would be great.
AoS tournament this weekend. Going to try and paint at least 1 model.
