I threw together a list of items that you should look into if you're interested in airbrusing. This is not the definitive list, but its what I currently use after months of research, trial, and error.
Must Haves:
Compressor
www.amazon.ca/Airbrush-Compressor-Regulator-Pressure-Braided/dp/B00FJDU42M/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1540385402&sr=8-4&keywords=compressor+airbrush
A tanked compressor like the one above with a regulator is recommended. The tank means the compressor runs less frequently, and the regulator allows you to adjust the PSI you shoot at. This one comes with a 6’ ⅛” hose.
Airbrush
www.amazon.ca/Badger-Air-Brush-Patriot-Gravity-Airbrush/dp/B002W84GTO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1540385604&sr=8-1&keywords=badger+patriot+105
The industry standard for work-horse airbrushes. Versatile and hard to kill.
Hose Adapter
www.amazon.ca/Badger-airbrush-adapter-Sparmax-SprayGunner/dp/B003970KSI/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1540385792&sr=1-1&keywords=badger+1%2F8%22+adapter
Depending on what hose you get, you will need this little doohickey to adapt a badger airbrush to it. The hose included in the compressor link will need this.
ALTERNATIVELY
www.amazon.ca/ABEST-Airbrush-Coupler-Connecter-airbrush/dp/B07KCH6SYD/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1546964313&sr=8-2&keywords=badger+quick+release
This is a quick release kit. Super useful, and this one happens to also be a thread adapter.
Tiny Disposable Brushes
www.amazon.ca/Disposable-Eyelash-Extension-Applicators-Mascara/dp/B01B46LRRI
For cleaning the hard to reach bits of the airbrush, as well as cleaning clogs off the needle when you get a bit of dry tip.
Cotton Swabs - Drug Store
For cleaning
Isopropel Alcohol - Drug Store
For cleaning and creating thinning solutions
Plastic shot glasses - Dollar store
For mixing paint, holding cleaning solutions, other stuff.
Nice-To-Haves:
Wash Bottles
www.amazon.ca/Safety-Bottle-Plastic-Squeeze-Medical/dp/B07C3X82R8/ref=sr_1_6?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1540386013&sr=1-6&keywords=500ml+wash+bottle
Really useful for cleaning and storing thinner/ alcohol
Cleaning Pot
www.amazon.ca/Airbrush-Cleaning-Wash-Station-Holder/dp/B01E3VFCQI/ref=pd_rhf_sc_s_pd_crcd_0_6?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01E3VFCQI&pd_rd_r=e523bc2a-29ef-47c1-be85-d3b150eeb31a&pd_rd_w=ZwNWr&pd_rd_wg=cwPj4&pf_rd_p=da08d512-d91c-4d51-9a8a-3d2bdf3b3e39&pf_rd_r=RJX2PGN34F0YHBQFDQDE&psc=1&refRID=RJX2PGN34F0YHBQFDQDE
For spraying out the rest of your cup while washing the brush/colour changes. Not necessary, but cleaner than spraying into a normal cup. Also acts as a stand.
Air-brush paints
Not exactly necessary. Most airbrush paints are just normal paints pre-thinned for you. You can use all of your normal GW/Vallejo/P3 paints through a brush, you’ll just have to thin them down first. This means airbrush paints are less work, but you actually get less pigment-per-bottle.
Flow Improver
Leading Edge sells Vallejo Flow improver for much cheaper than amazon. Grab it there. This can be used for troublesome colours to aid them going through the airbrush (Looking at you yellow/white…), or just generally avoiding dry tip.
And of course, the most useful thing of all. Learning how to actually use the damn thing!
