I hope that they, or preferably another company with more reasonable prices, makes rank and file movement trays that hold round bases.
It's likely that the only way I'd be interested in a new system is if I can double dip with my fantasy armies.

This will do so much damage to the 9th age community, which i assume is Gdubs plan.

Between 9th age, and the success of kings of war, I'm sure they have figured out there's still a market for rank and file.
Now hopefully they also figured out the real reasons Fantasy tanked.
9th looked cool to me, but as a new player, building up an army the size of the old fantasy setting for a third party rule set that I might be able to find a community for (and for how long?) was too much committment for too much gamble.
I'd love to be able to give something new a try if they keep the buy in (time and money) reasonable, but I don't have high hopes in that regard.
Still curious to see how it pans out.

I'd need: - Configurations - 2x10, 3x10, etc. etc. - Hole Sizes - Hole center to center - Quantity Barring making them at work, I'm sure I could model and print them up easily enough.

That's awesome. I hadn't even considered getting it done locally. It's all theoretical for me at the moment, but I will definitely keep that in mind. Thanks!

I hate to rain on the parade but there's literally no way to have appropriate/legal round bases that fit into the same footprint as their counterpart unit in WHFB (and presumably now TOW). Unless they really change up the base sizes squares start at 20mm which fit pretty much completely inside a 25mm round, their round base equivalent. Every Sigmar unit went to a larger, sometime significantly larger base as a result of how they did the conversion.
So a block of 20mm infantry with a frontage of five is 100mm across and the same units on equivalent 25mm rounds is at a minimum with no gaps 125mm. It just doesn't really work, unless they make the starting base size in the old world a 25mm square which would just piss off the very grognards this game is probably meant to appeal to since they would have to rebase all their old fantasy stuff.

Yeah, that's probably going to continue to be true. Another point for kings of war, I suppose. The movement trays would work just fine there, since units are played and removed as an entire group, not by model. Would just need to have the correct overall footprint.
I'd be surprised if GW adopted that method, since it means you don't actually need to buy those 10 boxes of infantry to cover your basic troops.

Yeah I've heard in Kings of War people sometimes don't even do individual bases just glue the troops directly onto the unit's tray. I haven't played it but I've always been tempted to break out the ol' dwarfs....
My hope would be that TOW would help 9th age and KOW just because it would mean more people have square based minis to play them with.

I do love the border princes and some of the lore surrounding it. But man this article doesn't say much.
