Yeah, I just don't think they have the breadth of knowledge when it comes to AoS. There are lots of armies they are just honestly unfamilar with. They tend to focus on their personal favorites, and the big baddies in the meta, rather than going the extra mile to do the research. Not too sharp of a criticism, it's just obvious the AoS content isn't on the same level as 40k.
Not that they make bad points, but this hot take definitely doesn't cover the entirety of the impact.

I will add any of their "hot takes"... even for 40k... are a "first thoughts when initially looking at it" kind of thing rather than a deep dive.
They're trying to add AOS content which is great, even if they don't know as much about the game as 40k, just having AOS content on a site like goonhammer is a way to raise interest in the game, which was largely absent in 2.0, so I'm seeing this as a positive move.

True enough. They just need to keep building that game knowledge or add writing talent that plays the game at a high level. The content is improving both in volume and quality but there's still a tendency for anything regarding armies a core writer doesn't play to be riddled with errors approaching the level of BOLS. You can tell which armies these are, too, because it's so consistent lol
I hope it someday gets to the point where we can expect regular Competitive Innovations articles and the like. That'd be the dream.

I'm happy all the stuff that dropped in points were the dad bod ogors. I really wanna see my foot slogging big lads being decent and not just "meh" lol.

Have you tried subbing the mawkruska for gordrakk? That would eat up loose points in a different quantity than the available units I checked, still doesn't work out sadly. However, I was looking through the closet and I found that I have two unopened boxes of Brutes. If I build them up, I have enough things to sub out the Gore-Gruntas. I'll keep poking at the list though.

Keep in mind that you don't actually need (or really even want) to cap out on points in 3.0. The wound triumph is EXTREMELY powerful, powerful enough that lots of very good lists have been lopping a chunk of points off the top to secure it.
Just some food for thought.

yup, many lists are intentionally a few points under to take advantage of triumphs

Yeah they're actually a super cool mechanic... not game breaking, but certainly makes up for being like 50-60 points down on a list.

My stormcast army is unchanged, my Khorne and nighthaunt armies still suck, and my in progress SBGL army is unchanged, overall I guess this is fine?
The really egregious problems realistically probably need warscroll rewrites or new tomes, godhammer can be pretty obnoxious and the change to amulet at least starts to address it.
Over all an ok update though.
