Tough loss for IDK vs the Sons of Behemat last night.
The giants slowly descended on the Deepkin force, taking the middle ground and making the aelves generally uncomfortable all game long.
The Turtle helped a late game surge, and the IDK were able to down a few gargants, but King Brodd proved too much in the end.
It was a great game overall...despite the constant feeling of impending doom

Awesome game. We talked about how the deployment map didn't fully allow you to utilize your crazy movement, but yeah did certainly contribute to the slow march of giant sized doom heading towards the Deepkin. I got very lucky with my saves on your shooting, otherwise giants would've been dropping much faster! Had a blast.

In a battle that harkened back to the world that was, Morathi lead her witch elves against the stuffed toad, I mean the eternal Lord Kroak and his bastilidon escort.
In a scenario that favoured Khaines melee combat by focusing the game towards the center, Morathi was able to grab the objectives and victory.
The laser lizards cut down scores of snakes, but the inspiring words of their general saw many get back on feet/snake bodies. I never did get to double fire the bow snakes as I had to rally them every turn. A key moment was after many turns of Kroaks unbinding domination in the magic phase I was able to sneak a pit of shades through on a bastilidon, rolled the boxcars and did 7 mortal wounds to it.
Thanks for the great game Mike!

Tough game...and even tougher to beat a 4+ rally! Well played on both sides! Thanks for the game Sean.

Also I’m looking for a makeup game if someone wants to get one in. Preferably after this weekend.

Spears would be shaken, shields would be broken and a red sun would rise - the Stormcast Eternals of Distracted Carnifex would face the Daughters of Khaine of Kurdz in the sixth and final round. All such battles must begin with a coffee and pleasant chat catching up on life while a five pound Yorkie tries to scare away the guest.
Despite preferring to go second the Stormcast Eternals went first. The two squads Vanguard Raptors dropped in behind a squad of Vanquishers while the Fulimators and guarded depth objectives and screened out the deployment zone. A flurry of shots left seven Spear-Snakes lifeless and a cheer went up from the Stormcast. The Snakes pulled back and rallied back four, but importantly ceded the left flank. A smaller squad of Spear Snakes teleported into the Vindictors, wiping them out but losing two in the process.
The Vanguard Raptors shot those three Spear-Snakes to death and shot down two Bow Snakes. The Prosecutor cheekily seized the open left flank objective in the Daughter's deployment zone. The Daughters kept pressing on the right, sending Witch Aelves into the newly arrived Vindictors.
Turn 3 was pivotal as the Stormcast moved up to be ready to get the central objective, shooting down the last of the Bow-Snakes and gunning down some Witch Aelves. This opened a pocket for the rallied Spear Snakes to teleport behind the Fulminators, supported by some Aelves with Wings that dropped in. The Winged ones made their charge with a re-roll, but the Snake Ladies failed their charge. Meanwhile, the Knight Incator fended off all manner of Aelves while his foot troops sold their lives as dearly as they could.
The Spear Ladies paid the price of failing their charge and were gunned down by massed Crossbow fire. A cagey redeploy by a Cauldron, though, left the Fulimators standing around.
Two Cauldrons crashed into the central objective, held by a brave Gryph Hound, three Vanquishers and the Prosecutors. They died, but the two Cauldrons (one crippled) were facing four Fulminators, six Longstrikes, Gardus and a Knight Judicator. And a sweating but oddly alive Knight Incantor who emerged from the slaughter on the right flank more or less intact.
Victor to the Stormcast.
A tense (game play wise) yet also relaxed game in terms of vibe where I played againt my type (sort of), holding back my hammer unit to avoid getting swamped until the time was right. The Longstrikes were the MVPs, but honourable mention to the Vindictors who gave better than they got. Kurdz' Daughters look fantastic and they are a real swiss army knife with lots of options.
I think the Stormcast Eternals will rest for a while. I have the Slaves to Darkness battletome and the Chaos Lord on Mr Pounces (Karkarak) are itching to get back in the fray!
Thanks to the league organizers and all the players that made this a success!

Great wrap up distractedcarnifex! The flow of the objectives certainly favoured the slower stormcast. It held me back in my territory where you were happy to position and wait out the eventual center battle. Great positioning kept me hesitant until it was to late. Even if it is just a moral victory, having the fulminators sniff around in the backfield seems like a win. Great game!

The Fulminators were not the most popular guys in the dressing room after the game, having killed a grand total of five winged-Aelves for their 480 points while everyone else was getting down to business and getting reforged in the process. Which I have read is unpleasant. I felt like a WW1 British Admiral where losing my Dreadnoughts (the Fulminators) would lose me the war in a afternoon, so to speak, so I never risked them.
I used to be more risk-accepting with my Fulminators when I could gamble on a double-turn!

Beastmen might not be known for their bravery, but fortunately they aren't big on brains either. Headlong, they charged into the Kharadron firing lines, and they did what they do best, despite their comrades turning into red mist alongside them.
Bestial cunning, and tricksy shenanigans can be a good stand-in for civilized technology and tactics though.
The ungor raiders sprang the ambush, loosing their first volley from the forest outside of the battlefield. They were able to clear the way for themselves and their beefier kin to set up to threaten the Overlords flank, deep in their deployment.
Do you know what the odds are of failing a 5" charge with a reroll? It's not great, but my bullgors have managed it twice out of their last three attempts. Fortunately, Beefer Sutherland (the doombull) was there to get the job done. He used his command ability in the combat phase to give the bulls one more chance to go for glory, rather than chewing their cud in the open, waiting to be pulverized by cannon fire.
Third time was the charm, and the bullgors charged full tilt into the gun hauler in their path. Maybe this was the plan all along, as that out of phase charge allowed them to avoid an unleash hell. Already weakened by the ritual of ruin fueled by the blood of Beefer (BoC heroic action) the gunhauler exploded on impact, allowing the bullgors to pile in to the alarmed thunderers behind the smoking wreak. They were in turn killed to a dwarf beneath the hacking great axes of the minotaurs.
Vengeance was swift and terrible. Although the Beastmen successfully deployed on both flanks, securing objectives and battle tactic, the sky-dwarfs were far from finished. All guns were turned onto the freshly sated bullgors and they were utterly annihilated in a barrage of smoke and fire.
The trading continued over three turns. The tzaangor enlightened were able to chew through many dwarfs as they stood stunned, doomed to fight last from the supporting gors' charge. The mighty ghorgon spent two turns trudging up the field, only to be cut down by concentrated firepower from the remaining gun hauler and the ironclad, flagship of the kharadron fleet.
The tzaangor shaman earned his points by successfully casting tendrils of atrophy onto the block of fifteen thunderers, giving their attackers +1 damage each time they were struck. Their breathen on discs were able to swoop in and capitalize on that, shredding through the majority of the unit while they were distracted by a pillow fight against some ungors.
Beefer, Bull of Doom, met his end in single combat against Brok Grunggson, Lord Magnate of Barak Nar. Charging alone into a dwarf loaded down with that many guns and a big ass hammer was probably not the smart move, but it was the heroic one. He will be missed.
When the dust settled, the remaining Overlords were in firm possession of the remaining objective in the middle of the board. The damage was done however. While the Beasts left to oppose them were badly bloodied, they had achieved their aims. Maximizing their own scoring while holding their opponents to a minimum by swamping both flanks and stealing objectives, the Beastmen had managed to secure an insurmountable lead on the scoreboard. Victory for the Beasts of Choas, fresh steaks for the sky dwarfs, on their way back to Barak Nar.
Great game. I know Todd doesn't do the forums, but he's a good guy to play with if you can track him down.
I would love to do another league like this in the future. I really liked the battle pack, and it was a great way to meet new people and get in some games. Thanks again to Mike and Derek for organizing!

Oh hey this reminds me I wanted to revisit makeup games. Due to scheduling issues and competing prioritizes some of us still haven't cranked out our assigned matches but we are rapidly approaching the end.
The original idea was to be eligible for the prize draw at the end everyone has to finish 6 games against unique opponents so me and Mike will do our best to make sure this happens if you missed a game for whatever reason.
Please message Mike or me if you want to do a makeup game and we will work to connect people. Please ALSO let us know if you are open to playing someone for their makeup game even if you have finished all your assigned games.
Almost done! I'll put up a feedback thread once we've got in all the games it looks like we are going to get and we can discuss... the future.

Well the DoK mirror match finally happened. Sultansean and I played realmstone cache. Morathi and the Shadow Queen (Sultansean) faced off against some usurpers who may have been getting wise to Morathi's lies - the fact that she is drinking in all of the power from the blood sacrifices and stealing it from Khaine!
Well Morathi was able to handily squash the rebellion, ensuring her plot can continue to unfold as she sees fit.
Great game!

Yeah great game! Morathi was able to teach her wayward daughters the error of their ways, Morathi-Khaine is much better than just plain old Khaine.

Poor bugger. He got Todd's ironclad one time but he spent the rest of the league getting stepped on, blasted and now, finally, eaten.
