I was wondering, considering you cannot shoot -directly- into melee... can you drop ordnance and blast weapons near said assault and hope they drift back onto it? I am ignoring friendly fire, as in, not caring, in this case.

Yes you can but you need to have a target near.

Aye, and for what it's worth, it says templates too. -shrugs-
Anyway, remember units in close combat don't take morale or pinning checks when hit in this way though.

Yeah. It's generally considered bad form to do something like this on purpose, but it is entirely feasible to scatter a blast into a combat.

If the models involved in the close combat were arranged in such a way that the unit firing the blast could clearly see all of the enemy unit's models, would they receive a cover save or no?

That's a tricky one to figure out. As far as I can tell no, assuming that NO friendly models were between the blast and the unit....same goes if you scatter into friendlies. Usually this kind of thing is just agreed on if it happens...either placement is taken as 100%, or the "combat is a swirling melee and models aren't necessarily standing in one place" is agreed on and everyone in the combat gets a cover save.

Hahaha, awesome! I was wondering about this because of possible 'fluff' for my armies. Grots dropping Lobbas on Mobs of Orks that beat on them before the battle, or simply not caring. Chaos armies - blood and skulls are pretty much the same, regardless of whom they came from. The gods don't care Could simply add another level of 'silliness' to a game that is prolly already silly. once again, lol, thanks for the responses.
