I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience. When it comes to push fit models, I find it's best to snip off the pegs and just glue the parts together.

Yeah, I learned this one when shadespire came out. The connections are generally too tight.
Best practice I found was to snip the peg at about 45 degrees about 2/3rds from the top. Still gives you something to stick together, but it actually closes firmly. And of course, use glue to actually get all the seams tight.
It's a shame that these "easy to build" options mostly just create new hobbyist traps instead of actually being easy.

Yeah you have to really trim all the pegs to make things fit. Super annoying for sure!
