So, I have my warband set up, and am currently reading the rules. I have a game scheduled for Wednesday. Hopefully it goes well.

So, Warcry is indeed still fun. 🙂 This edition seems to be more of a refinement over 1e than anything else, but it's still a good time.

Yup! The rules being free and including all* the units from AoS is really nice, too! While the warbands from Undrreorlds have not had their specific rules updated, for use with WarCry, the models still work perfectly well as gaming pieces.
It was good to see that the game supports ways to play with more than 2 people, as well.
The way that deployment and objectives are semi-random/unknown, as well as staggered and spread around, really helps prevent 'alpha-strike' styled gameplay. So far, I have found this to be fairly effective and I feel it has not contributed towards the game being swingy.
Over-all, so far, I have found my experiences while playing to be quite balanced and enjoyable. I have yet to come across a playing experience that was one-sided.
Varied lists have done well. Focused lists have done well. Big things hit as hard as hordes of little things. Ability synergy/stacking could be more of a concern, but is not reliable, because of the iniative/action dice mechanic.

Terrain definitely can play a big part in warcry, vertical Terrains great from jumping down on an enemy or throwing your enemy's to their death is always fun! I'm currently upgrading custom Skaven Terrain to have more height, but you can check out different warcry Terrain or warcry bat reps over @ miniaturestash" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.youtube.com/ miniaturestash

Unfortunately those are work days for me, I can sneak in an evening game or usually Fridays or weekends. But would definitely like to get some more games in.

I'm interested in getting into Warcry. Any suggestions for a good beginner warband? Also where do people play in Kingston? Nexus?

Warcry is great fun, if you've got an age of sigmar army or armies just go with that. Some of the specialist warcry warbands are pretty good, iron golems, horns of hashutt, the aksurgan dudes.
We've mostly playing at home but it's a pretty portable game and I have no problem bringing stuff down to Nexus.

Awesome.Yeah I've never played any Warhammer actually. Friends of mine back home are playing Kill Team and it seems fun and Warcry is the Fantasy version of that right?
So ideally I'd like to buy a warband that I can just paint and play.

Warcry is like a fantasy version of kill team in a lot of ways, but they are different systems. They both scratch the small scale warband itch though.
You can buy one of the warbands and play, Iron Golems play pretty well with one box, I've heard Horns of Hashutt are good as well as the Chaos legionaries. Hunters of Huanchi are said to be pretty hard to play. You can build a pretty good warband with either half of the AOS Dominion box set, witch you might be able to get pretty cheap.
As much as I want to see more people playing warcry, kill team seems to have a lot more folks playing it around here.

Someone mentioned being able to proxy models to get things starter (or inferred it- i don't see people 'happening to have' the models from factions listed online anyways)- unless I'm missing something? I think, of course, they made them that way- for it it be incredibly distinct so that you'd have to buy the set of models to play, vs KillTeam seeming to have less novel/unique models. It's a bit of a barrier to entry.
Hmmm..
I appreciate your guys' reviews, btw! *Also, has anyone tried Underworlds, and if so- how does this compare?
