Looking for crackle paint recommendations

What do people here use for crackle paint? If you are unsure as to what that is, it's a type of paint that you later on thick onto a base or whatever, and when it dries it splits and cracks apart.



Up until now I've been using something from GW (agrellan earth I think it's called. Probably spelled it wrong). However, the pot doesn't have enough in it. I need much more, but don't know any companies that do texture paint beyond GW.



So, if any of you know anything, please let me know.

Hey buddy,

I've been using Golden Crackle Paste, you can pick it up from Michael's, I use the 30% off coupon, and its reasonable.

the paste itself is "OK". I think the agrellan earth or whatevers the gw one is has a definately more pronounced effect for sure. I find with the golden stuff it does crackle, however 2 things.

firstly, I doesn't stick well to straight plastic bases, I've had an issue where as the paste is drying, it will lift off the base, meaning it doesn't crackle, and will flake off. I found using a bit of pva glue down on the base them spreading the paste over top seems to work.

secondly, this stuff is fragile so after priming, a good layer of paint is needed, dry brush it gently, and definatly lock it in with some varnish.

amd guess also I find it tricky to get an even semi thin layer, I think they recommend 2mm thickness minimum, and varying thicknesses will also effect the way it cracks as it dries.

That was going to be my suggestion. It certainly is not the same, but similar effect.

Update.

I wasn't able to find the recommended crackle paste at Michaels sadly. I did find something at ArtNoise downtown however that works, although not the way I was hoping for. :/
