From some of the people I've talked too there's some interest in seeing OBR on the table. I'm going to be the first to admit that I'll probably not run them optimally because - hey, let's add a bunch more command abilities into a game your learning. Seems incredibly smart and not challenging at all. The model range is awesome though! I've added the general strategy of each unit below.
Ossiarch Bonereapers - 2000 Points
Subfaction: Crematorians (Bomberman Skeletons)
Triumph: Inspired
Grand Strategy: Overshadow (Keep one of my battlelines alive and none of my opponents. My entire army is battleline)
Battle Regiment: One Drop
Command Points: +6 Per Turn Extra at full strength (7 Units) reduced to +3 once a unit is destroyed
Terrain: Bone-Tithe Nexus
Leader
-Katakros - 460 Points
-Free Command Ability of +1 Hit & +1 Save as long as he's not in combat. Returns 6 Mortek Guard/1 Deathrider and/or a possible stalker
Mortisan Boneshaper - General - 140 Points
-Spells 1 Cast/Unbind: Empower Nadirite Weapons (5 & 6s explode)
-Artefact: Artisan's Key (3+ 2 units can be effected by ability or 2 uses on the same unit)
-Command Traits: Dark Acolyte (First spell can't be unbound - seems good with Primal Magic)
-Ability: Mini Katakros revive of 3 Mortek Guard/1 Deathrider or 1 Stalker (Artisan's Key gives potentially twice activation)
Battleline
-40 Mortek Guard w/ Blades (Reinforced) 20 x 2 (150 Points Each = 600) - Good General unit, tarpit of wounds, constantly reviving from Katakros, Boneshaper and Harvester.
-5 Kavalos Deathriders - 180 Points - Cavalary that can retreat and charge with a command ability. Only easy battletactic in the book for OBR. Can be revived by Katakros/Boneshaper of 1 model per Command Phase instead of Guard/Stalkers. Mortals on the charge.
-6 Necropolis Stalkers (Reinforced) - (220 points x2 = 440) - DOES IT BLEND? Absolute blender of a unit. My main damage dealer and will most likely murder anything they get into combat with. Can be revived and are 5 wounds a piece. My target for Empower Nadirite Weapons more often than not.
Behemoth:
-1 Gothizzar Harvester - 180 Points - Monster, Decent profile, 10 Wounds, Can revive Mortek Guard models that have been destroyed in each combat phase on a 4+ for each model destroyed.
OBR's biggest weakness is that they are slow, command point heavy, no shooting and each model is expensive. Their book battletactics are actually really hard to complete and require specific units to either kill things, be somewhere or not have any models slain - so they'll be a bit harder to score with. They are extremely durable with both good saves, armor save and if Katakros is outside of combat with something he gives All-Out Attack and All-Out Defense to the entire army for free - which is nuts. Will struggle into heavy shooting/casting armies but do decently well against heavy melee armies. Death ward saves make mortal wounds spam a bit more difficult to achieve and I have the ability to improve ward to 5s on a unit for a CP when targetted by an attack.
Honestly, I think OBR are in a good position in the book but it will depend on how easy the battle tactics are to score from books for other factions. I wish I could fit Arkhan in - but unless Katakros really underperforms his aura ability is just too good. The points update hurt as I had a second spellcaster that cast two spells for mystic shield availability but I think this army comp works. Plus, if I go second - I can cast Mystic Shield from the additional spell from the Locus ability.
From talking to some of the staff at Nexus - I don't know if anyone plays OBR so it'll be cool to debut the faction.
