I'm honestly surprised Nexus still allows food back in the play area. The amount of garbage I have to clean up after a tournament can be ridiculous. Even after club champs, each day I walked around putting cans/bottles in the right bin, and Mike even said "how hard is this?" as he took out cans and bottles from the regular garbage and put it into the cans/bottles recycling RIGHT beside the garbage.

SO TRUE I couldn't blame any venue for banning food after what I've seen. I try to hang around at events until all the garbage and terrain is sorted and it always amazes me the messes people think it's okay to just abandon

I think there has to be a middle ground between particants not being able to pick up for themselves and "no food or drink allowed". They themselves have food for everyone on special occasions (eg. Cake on 20th anniversary- which was great!) I would suggest that after tournaments and before prizes are given out everyone cleans up and the space and given the all clear by by staff. It would probably take 5 min. That way everyone who uses the space and enjoys it can be forced to take a measure of responsibility....no suggestion about the recycling/garbage thing...😄

I think there is also an element to they sell food and drink. If you bring in your own lunch/ snacks you are now competing with them.
I know SBT was looking at getting vending machines which is a cost to them, so it's not an unreasonable policy.
I know there are lots of places that area gaming spaces that also make money on food and drink.

I wasn't aware SBT sells food. Are we talking about counter candy bars? Or are we referring to the theoretical vending machines? Contextually I thought the food policy was informed by issues with people leaving messes, if SBT is selling snacks then who knows. Drinks I'm not sure on, I saw his post and it only refers to food. Not sure if he's disallowing drinks, certainly last time I was up there I had a coffee with me and Mark didn't mention it. I will just add, though, that "no outside food" is also a very routine if totally unrelated type of policy for business

Okay I asked Mark, and the official word is:
Drinks are fine, drinks were never an issue. Additionally, small snacks are also fine (the specific example used was granola bars) presumably as long as they are not messy. Please don't try to abuse this, he and the staff just have a very real concern about people bringing in full meals and creating messes in the play space.
I understand people might be annoyed by that if they're used to Nexus' extreme permissiveness around bringing food into the game space but we're borrowing it essentially for free, we should respect reasonable limits put on its use. I'm not tremendously familiar with that strip of gardiners, maybe somebody knows someplace nearby it would be convenient to eat packed lunches if someone isn't interested in going to a restaurant or whatever?

Question on proxy
I'm thinking about running some tzaangors. I played them a lot in 2nd, but the quantity of different profiles in each unit is a huge PITA.
Mine are modeled with sword and board plus great weapons, and mutants.
Wondered if people would be opposed to me running them all as dual weilders. Everyone has the same profile, champ and mutant get +1 attack.
I'm assume most people haven't memorized their scroll anyway, do there isn't likely to be much confusion on what they look like they should do. But I wanted to ask before I showed up.

No problem with me - if it speeds up getting through their attacks and helps keep track easier that seems to make a lot of sense.

Personally think this is totally fine! Coming from someone that had to proxy Chaos Warrior Halberds for months! GW was slowly refreshing Slaves to Darkness and simply did not include Halberds in the kit for quite some time.

I do the same thing (sometimes)! Imagine if you had to buy everything from GW to play... all the time. Proxies help make the world go round lol. Fine with me!

I've yet to meet a Sigmar player who isn't ok with proxying, it's a lot more straightforward than 40k usually with few units having a bunch of different pieces of equipment you need to track.
Maybe if AoS is ever popular enough to have a club champs level event the question can be revisited but yeah, atm, can't see any complaints.

If we had like 24 players, I'd totally run an AOS club champs.

Hey guys, to clarify the food thing. Our no food policy as listed on our page is designed to eliminate gross food mess. Outside drinks are still allowed in store. Outside small snacks (think granola bar type stuff) are also permitted. We aren't hypocritical at all. The items we allow in are also the only items we sell. We don't force anyone to buy from us, but we do appreciate it. It helps offset the cost of the gaming floor which is about 3k per month. "Meal" style foods are the only thing we no longer allow and it wasn't an decision we made lightly. The good news is that during gaming breaks, we are a 1 minute or less walk from wild wings, 2 pizza places, dennys, kelseys, montanas, five guys, mucho burrito and osmows! We want happy gamers! We love having you guys! Its the #1 reason we moved locations actually. But I also need happy employees with clearly stated job requirements, of which cleaning up old food is not one of. Hope this helps! If you have any concerns please message the store any time!
