Not that surprising to me tbh. Frontline has a LOT going on these days and the ITC folding into GW in my mind kind of completes a story arc for the redemption of 40k.
Years ago, Frontline started the ITC because the game wasn't balanced by GW, nor was it even intended for competitive or tournament style play despite the passion for the game and the willingness of our local communities to run events, GW didn't want to be a part of that.
A decade later, the ITC folding into GW shows just how much more involved in the game GW has become, how much more they listen to the playerbase, how much more they care about building a balanced and competitive game for us.
Those who are newer to the hobby hear the stories from us old timers about the dark ages. This little footnote in an article is really the end of an era, where the community had to carry the banner for 40k when GW didn't want to, and in the end, proved this was what we all actually wanted all along.
