Full disclosure, I posted this on a different site previously, so a bunch of this will just be copy pasted. Didn't get any replies there, so hopefully I can get some insight here, hahaha. The general idea is that I'm hoping these two lists will be somewhat balanced against each other. If they aren't balanced, what changes would you recommend?
I've been building a 1000 point list to gift to a friend of mine. Nearly done. After that, I'll build a 1000 point list for myself. The goal is that we can have small games together and learn how to play. For reference, while I have plenty of AoS experience, he has never played a miniatures wargame before. I just wanted to see if these two forces are fairly balanced against each other.
So, here goes:
HIS FORCE (ELDAR) (1000 points)
1x Eldrad (Warlord) 1x Jain Zar 1x Maugan Ra
10x Guardian Defenders + 1x Heavy Weapons Platform 10X Howling Banshees 10x Dark Reapers 5x Rangers 1x Wraithlord
Ok, so Eldrad is with the guardians, Jain Zar with the banshees, and Maugan Ra with the dark Reapers. I figured the banshees and reapers can get buffed that way.
MY FORCE (WORLD EATERS) (1000 points)
1x Lord on Juggernaut (with Battle Lust enhancement) (Warlord)
10x Khorne Berzerkers 10x Khorne Berzerkers 5x Khorne Berzerkers 6x Exalted Eightbound 2x Chaos Spawn
Ok, so the Lord would be attached to the eightbound. Alternatively, I can replace the lord with a Master of Executions, as it costs the same amount of points, and can be attached to berzerkers.
Hopefully this is fairly balanced. If not, please let me know what can change, while still being within 1000 points.

The Eldar are rough customers, and will run roughshod over you if their fate dice roll well for them at the beginning. Plus, Eldrad has lots of shenanigans, but the troops are fragile as glass, so if you get a hold of them, you'll wreck their poor frail bodies.
I feel much of it would come down to mission and terrain.

I think they're pretty balanced against one another... the Eldar list doesn't really have any of the super crazy stuff in it. I think the world eaters list is potentially stronger though... but again will really depend on terrain.

I'd say the Eldar list has a pretty significant advantage. Dark Reapers and Howling Banshees are very efficient at picking up Khorne Berzerkers, which is most of the World Eaters list.
I'd make just a couple of tweaks to give the World Eaters a better chance - swap the Juggernaut Lord for Lord Invocatus, and replace the 5 Khorne Berzerkers with a Rhino. That way, you can have the footslogging Berzerkers and Eightbound pick up Scouts, and the other Berzerkers have a Rhino to Tank Shock, eat Overwatch, and convey them safely to midfield.

I'll try to get a Chaos Rhino then. Thank you. 🙂
