Yuki reached out as she died. "...If only I had made that Shard sale when I had the chance!"

Holding the mirror aloft, Sir Mordred scanned the area around him for oddities in the reflections. The sound of screams and clash of arms raptly brought his attention toward his left where a massive ogre hunter fought a lightly armoured woman that moved with unnatural speed and grace. Taking time to use the mirror, his suspicions were confirmed as only a reflection of the hunter appeared. As he slowly made his way toward the fight, he watched in awe as the hunter absorbed numerous devastating blows before finally replying with several crushing strikes of its own. The last strike clove the vampiress nearly in half as the victorious hunter roared in bestial fury. At the same time, Sir Mordred watched as the hunter reached down and grabbed something from his vanquished foe. A flash of gold shocked the knight's senses as he recognized the chalice that he had been seeking. Part of him urged an immediately charge to seize the prize while his foe was still weakened but he easily repelled this insinuations into his mind. Keeping careful watch on the Hunter as he tore sections of a tent apart to bandage its wounds, Sir Mordred observed a shadowy human figure approaching the towering ogre. The sudden flare of light from an amulet on the figure sent forth rays of sickening yellow-green into the hunter's body. Rather than causing harm, the rays appeared to be healing the hunter's ghastly wounds and Sir Mordred again used his mirror to view the scene through alternate eyes. Once again, the ogre hunter remained solid but only an outline of the shadowy human appeared although the amulet still glowed brightly. Cantering his mount forward, Sir Mordred drew his sword and braced his shield for what he knew was yet another inevitable conflict. As the human disappeared behind some tents, the ogre hunter turned toward the knight with a feral look of hunger and rage. Rearing his mount upward as it bugled a challenge, Sir Mordred calmly prayed to the Lady and shifted his mount toward a more open area of the circus grounds as the hunter charged.

..............full stop.................... I screwed up big time................. and it was a significant screw up too..... ogre hunters have four wounds... not five.... Yuki would have slain Borisalav as she caused four wounds round one (as the rolls clearly show) ... I really should of known better... being an ogre player myself! (for some reason I thought Tyrant!) So the fairest thing I can think of is to correct this immediately before we go any further... it really wouldn't be fair to keep moving forward with the fights as they were scheduled, as Yuki didn't actually lose the fight.... and it may greatly impact what lays ahead... ....so (not to give away my age with this reference)... but we're having a "Dallas" moment.... everything from that fight onwards was actually just a dream... a figment of Borislaav's imagination, where in his dying thoughts, he imagined that he actually won the fight, and lived to fight again in the carnival.. there was an epic ending for Boris... truly there was... ... but like I said.... it was all just a dream! ----------------- My apologies to Kerry and to Tom... as both were screwed over by my oversight... (first Tom, and now Kerry!).... So Yuki will rightfully take Borisalav's place for the randomly rolled fight against Sir Mordred Jaegar (sorry Frank... guess I might end up screwing you over too? )

The problem is that Boris didn't stick a wooden stake in Yuki's heart, chop off the head, submerge everything in holy water and then put the parts out in a clearing under full sun until they were completely dessicated - sheesh, what a lazy ogre ;D

As suggested by Frank and Don both today... there may be an unorthodox solution...
Edward vs. Yuki (so Edward gets to fight and Yuki's not eliminated) Sir Mordred vs. Borisalav (so Boris isn't out and the original fight still proceeds)
so yeah... sounds good to me... if everyone else is okay with it?

Edward struggled to maintain a passive, uncaring face as his nymphs bore him aloft shouting his praises to anyone who would listen. He truly was awesome he thought to himself, but at the same time, awesome was just so overrated... He thought for quite some time whether or not being awesome would conflict with the world weighing heavily on his shoulders. Exhausted from the mental strain he collapsed, fast asleep into the ecstatic arms of his paparazzi, who carried him gleefully, ever further into the carnival.
-Also, I am totally okay with fighting Yuki

And then, suddenly Yuki felt alive! Feeling her chest she noticed she wasn't staked, and that the ogre had left her out in the middle of the field with her cloak pressed over her slumped body. Little did he know, her cloak would surely block the sun light and keep her alive. She burst with anger and stumbled up, pulling her things about her and began to slowly march towards the Carnival... She felt weak and needed blood, only vampire blood would sate this kind of a thirst for her.
-Ditto.

Boris awoke from the dream that was not a dream to find himself in a place that was a tent but not a tent wondering WTF just happened. Could he be caught amidst a bad rerun of Gilligan's island. This is what happens when you decide not to eat what you kill or perhaps the elf was a little under cooked!? As his thoughts finally began to return to him he had to wonder whether or not the unknown Bretonnian actually did try to bribe him with 5 cows and a bag of gold to take the next challenge. No, Bret's are way too stodgy and proper too lower themselves to that level. Boris felt his anger rising, again. Time to make someone pay. He was hungry again, oh so hungry, and somehow he knew that he wouldn't have to wait long.

Edward vs. Yuki
Yuki stalked the carnival grounds, hunger gnawing at her relentlessly. She shrugged off the hucksters at their game stands, ignoring their warped, twisted fingers reaching out as they tried to lure her closer. She saw through the crowd a male vampire being held aloft and paraded through the carnival by a strange group of cheering wood nymphs.
Yuki easily intercepted the entourage and cut off their parade. Her katana was already out, her normally calmed demeanour replaced by a panting, intense hunger and building rage. Edward commanded his fans put him down, which they did reluctantly. The nymphs eyed Yuki with contempt as Edward approached her.
Edward tossed his bangs and stared into Yuki’s eyes. “I see you want to join my team?”
Yuki swooned despite herself. Her hunger fading into the background of this sparkling vision. Edward pulled his sword and tried to strike, realizing that this opponent meant to slay him, and may have the ability to do so. “But her first mistake was thinking any female could resist my charms”, he thought to himself with a half-smile.
Yuki’s shroud flared to life around her, the tendrils reaching out towards Edward, slowing his advance. Yuki shook her head to try and clear the glamour. She struck out at Edward, barely able to bring herself to attack him. The first attack was true to the mark, and she cut his face, drawing blood. The wood nymphs screamed and launched themselves in front of her blade, and she cut two of them in half. Gibbering clowns that were surrounding the battle dragged the dying nymphs off, their last screams abruptly cut off.
The sight of Edward’s blood drove Yuki’s hunger to a feverish pitch. She launched herself at him, growling like and animal, sinking her teeth into his flesh and drinking deeply. Edward swooned in spite of himself, succumbing to the death kiss of his kin. “I knew that undeath was all pointless” he gasped and fell limp dramatically as still possible.
The remaining wood nymphs screamed in rage, but the clowns had also tasted blood and were in a frenzy and dragged them off. Wiping the last of Edward’s blood from her lips, Yuki stood, re-energized.
“I feel… better” she smiled.
---------------------- After battle thoughts – well with only two wounds each this was going to end quickly… Yuki normally would ASF with rerolls but failed her beguile roll so the rerolls were cancelled out by the forced rerolls, at least as far as how I think that interaction works… Red fury saved her rather dismal luck with her initial attacks… that and Edward only having two wounds, so even one more getting in was enough.
Round One: Beguile – failed leadership test! Yuki is beguiled! Y- 3 hits (Beguile forced reroll negates ASF reroll I believe), 3 wounds, 2 successful wards, Edward takes a wound! red fury 1 hit, 1 wound, ward failed – Edward is slain!

Borisalav Zanochka vs. Sir Mordred Jaegar
Borisalav roared in outrage at the human mocking him from atop his horse. At least he was fairly certain the human was mocking him. He pushed the last bit of doubt about that from his mind, and thundered forwards. The hunter slashed at the knight in a flurry of strikes, but the blessed plate armor held. Sir Mordred dropped his shield and wielded his bastard sword two handed, all too aware of how difficult it was to pierce an ogre’s hide. Sir Mordred cut huge gashes into the hunter, but it barely slowed his advance.
Borisalav jumped towards the knight, braving a desperate kick from the mount which glanced off harmlessly. He drove Sir Mordred from the saddle, landing with a crash on top of him and slamming the hilt of his sword into the knight’s face, laughing at the crunch of bone beneath.
Sir Mordred used the momentum from the fall to continue to roll, barely able to keep the hunter moving with him, and off of him. He spat blood as he rose, cutting upwards as he did so with his sword, again causing a grievous wound to the ogre.
“That should have killed that thing” Sir Mordred thought desperately, and raised his sword again as the ogre charged into him. Borislav continued to roar with fury as he struck at the human, whose armor was now battered and covered with both combatants’ blood. More blood coursed through another wound to the human’s side and Sir Mordred nearly fell.
Calling to the Lady for strength, Sir Mordred drove his bastard sword into the chest of the rampaging ogre, driving it through the heart completely through the creature. Borisalav fell on top of the knight, his last breath a fetid wind upon Sir Mordred’s face.
“oh no, he’s still going,” Sir Mordred thought painfully as he felt the bulk of the ogre lift off of him and his sword pull free. As he shakily rose to one knee however, he saw that the great beast was being dragged off by twisted, mutated creatures who were hissing at one another as they ripped great chunks of flesh from the ogre’s body.
“What madness is this?” Sir Mordred Jaeger whispered, and grabbed the fallen chalice. The carnies and nightmare clowns turned to him, teeth bared in an insatiable hunger. Sir Mordred’s faithful steed was beside him and he was astride in the saddle in a moment, barely escaping claws grasping at him, before returning to their meal of the ogre hunter.
-------------------------
After battle thoughts:
That was a close one for sure! Sir Mordred was down to one wound when he was able to finally stop Borisalav… the ways the rolls were going, it could have easily gone either way this time.
Round One: B: 3 hits, 3 wounds, 3 failed armor, rerolls all pass! M: 3 hits, 3 wounds, 2 wards failed, forced reroll of success fails – Boris takes 3 wounds! H: 1 hit, no wound
Round Two: B: 3 hits, 2 wounds, 2 failed armor, reroll passes one, blessing ward fails, Mordred takes a wound! M: 2 hits, 1 wound, failed ward, Boris takes a wound! H: misses!
Round Three: B: 4 hits, 3 wounds, reroll passes two, blessing ward fails, Mordred takes a wound! M: 3 hits, two wounds, one passed ward, forced reroll fails – Boris is slain!

Exhausted and wounded near to death, Sir Mordred felt as though the hunter had been regenerating as the punishment it had taken was enough to kill two regular ogres. Grasping the chalice in awe, he studied it carefully as he re-mounted his steed and yet again rode toward the glade refuge. Much of his adult life had been spent in pursuit of this artifact and he was now tantalizingly close to finishing his quest. As the sun rose high in the sky, Sir Mordred could feel its rays warming the air and could almost see its energy reinvigorate the glade and clear waters. Carefully grooming and feeding his steed, he then removed his armour to clean and polish it. That done, he finally bathed himself in the pond which strangely seemed to remain pristine in spite of the blood, dirt and bits of ogre flesh that came off of him. Taking the chalice in his hands and filling it with water, Sir Mordred tilted the cup in silent prayer to the Lady and drained it slowly, allowing the cool liquid to quench his thirst and restore his vigor. Although it had seemed to only take a couple hours, Sir Mordred noted it was well into the night and that dawn was not far off. Peering through the veil onto the carnival grounds he sensed a beacon of malignant malice in the presence of the vampiress he had originally been hunting. Rearming himself, he carefully put the chalice in the water and watched as it floated across the surface where a maiden of almost painful beauty rose from the waters and took it in her hands. Her gaze pierced his soul and he knew that the chalice was now safe but yet another task was required before his quest was complete. Leaping astride his destrier, he raised his shield and sword and prayed to his goddess as he once again entered the carnival grounds. A full moon and numerous fires illuminated the area as he called out his challenge. Moving with preternatural speed, he sensed more than saw the swift passage of the vampiress as she approached.

Finishing her meal, Yuki felt great... nothing beats feeding on a vampire, sad as she was to admit it. Pulling her cloak about her she continued to travel the Carnival grounds until she heard him... The silly knight from before shouting a challenge to her. Sighing aloud she wasted no time and simply rushed him, sword drawn and still covered with blood. A quick death was obviously what he wanted and that she was going to give him.
