HI all
As my challenge carries on I wanted to give a hand with a few more cool tricks.
Making your own washes
Step one; buy Vajello mixing medium, it looks like milk.
step two; use the base coat of your three colors(ie dark red, red , light red. I would use dark red) and mix to this ratio base cost 2: mixing medium 2: water 1
step three; apply like a wash
step four; paint as you normally would
Triads
every colour you paint needs three colours. Always paint in a triad.
1. base coat, it needs to colour you primer smoothly
2. wash, find a nice wash or make your own. the wash does not always have to be the same colour. Brown works great for reds. black can work for blue.
3.highlight with a smooth colour and not too much high light. It needs to be bright but not too bright. IF it ends up too bright, hit it with a glaze of the same colour to dull things down.
Factory painting
Sing this to the tune of Yellow Submarine. "We all work in a painting factory"
Always paint a full squad at a time. This will avoid any inconsistencies. Just line those guys up and paint. Example; I am going to paint an 10 ultra marines. I will use these colours. Blue Blue wash Blue High light red brown wash red highlight metal blackwash black white
If I painted 10 models using only 1 of these colours a day I would be done in less than 2 weeks. each colour would only take about 2-4 minutes a model. That's less than 1 hour a day.
When factory painting here is good ratio too 10 25mm bases= 5 40mm bases = 1 vehicle(rhino type/size)
that's all for me. good luck
Mike

So the wash with the Vajello goes on before the other paints- instead of spray paint, say?
