I just moved here at the end of June, and after a decade-long hiatus from Blood Bowl have kind of got the fever, partially inspired by a friend here who's long wanted to play but has never actually tried it.
I'm in my 40s, and have a pretty consuming full-time job, so I wouldn't be able to commit to more than a game a week (or every two weeks). This would be a slow-burn league with newbies, and a focus more on fun matches with a turn timer than grinding analysis. My friend that's interested would also be in the same boat. Matches could happen during Nexus game nights, or we could work out a rotation schedule for hosting.
I currently have no pitch and no teams; I sold all mine back in the late '00s in a fit of stupidity. It makes me cry sometimes. But I'm hoping to come into a base set soon and will be investigating Impact! alternates. I'm not the sort to get hung up on players using stand-in figs as long as they're well-themed; I'm even open to cardboard standies if people are waiting for their ship to come in.

I would be completely new to Blood Bowl however I am interested in learning it. From what I've seen on the internet it looks like a fun game and I would definatley be interested in trying it out some time.
After just looking on the GW site I can't find it and I learned they discontinued it. Does anyone know where the best place to buy models, a field, and find the rules would be?

If it were okay with the other members, I think the local league could be pretty loose about whether we have to have "official" figures or not. Impact!, for instance, makes figs for their "elfball" game that work for Blood Bowl and don't cost a mint. There are ways to proxy the dice and make your own pitch (board) as well.
That being said... once you start playing in tourneys, etc, they can get very insistent that you use Games Workshop minis and so on. This is where we'd be relying on the kindness of local friends with teams and lucky finds on eBay.

The rules are free -- google Blood Bowl Competition Rules Pack (CRP, also known as LRB6) and you'll find them almost immediately.

If only I lived closer to Kingston.
I wish you luck though, as it is a great game and the main reason I get mad at GW is for them discontinuing it.

If you wanted to link to this on your forums, maybe there are people in between that would like to get in on this? And if you know anyone that wants to sell their old Blood Bowl stuff... let me know!

Even though I play in Trenton, I'm a bit outside of there as well
But I did post a link to this topic on those forums.
We had some Blood Bowl going on there in the past, but that died out at least two or three years ago.
There was a tad interest in Mantic's DreadBall and several of us jumped in for the Kickstarter, but I think I was the only one who has ever really played a couple games.

Hey nice to see people still wanting to play Blood Bowl, wish I was closer to Kingston to join but sadly im in Trenton. but id love to get a game in again one day. as for Blood Bowl gear you can make some pretty neat Blood Bowl field/pitch for pretty cheap, there some how-to online, i really like the traveling case ones. il try and remember where online i saw it. you can most likely google it. I was also one of the people that join in on the group for the Dreadball Kickstarter but never got to try it out yet.

I would be interested in a blood bowl league. I have played one off games before but never a league setting. I have heard they are great fun. I do not own a team.

Minor update: I have managed to find and buy a Blood Bowl set (I was going to Ottawa anyway, and found a store in Gatineau that had the 2002 box for $75, which is a darned lucky find these days). So we have a pitch, and plastic orc and human teams. I've also done some decent research into low-cost ways to set up teams, such as this, a print-and-play PDF set for Blood Bowl teams: paperplayers.wordpress.com/the-teams/and, for people that want "figs" even if they're not official Games Workshop BB figs, there's always the off-brand modellers that offer a really wide array of options. Or, if you're feeling creative, it wouldn't cost too much to pull together an all-meeple team that can represent almost any BB team: www.meeplesource.com/products.php?cat=17I've got some other people interested too, so I'll start working towards getting something up and running, and maybe put some posters up at Nexus and the Minotaur as well.

Sounds great!. May I suggest the night not be a wednesday? I wouldn't be able to make it then.
