Hey folks,
As many of you know, this weekend (March 13-15) is King Con. Yay.
This means a couple of things, for those of you interested in rolling dice and moving plastic guys around.
1. No open gaming this weekend. Want to come by Saturday for some casual 40K? Nope. How about Sunday? Nope. Actually just want to... nope. Nexus is full, full, full, full of organized events, which of course you're welcome to join. But non-organized stuff? Forget about it.
2. You probably know this, but Warhammer 40K tournament is on Sunday at the Nexus.
3. On Saturday, there is the X-Wing Store Championships which are being held at the downtown branch of the library, which is located at 130 Johnson St. It's on the corner of Bagot and Johnson, literally a block and a half from the Nexus. If you would like to come, please please please sign up in advance because we need to bring tables over from Nexus for this event, and if we get randos just showing up on the day of, sorry, but you won't have a table to play on. See? Signing up in advance helps you!
4. Also on Saturday, there is a Warmachine and Hordes tournament being held at the Nexus. Please please please sign up in advance, if you're coming, because you are splitting tables with X-Wing. So if more X-Wing players sign up in advance, they get more tables. But if more Warmahordes players sign up in advance, they get more tables. It's a contest to see which group is better at following instructions. Who will be the winner? Currently, it's tied...
5. As a vague aside, for those of you not doing any of those things, there is plenty of nerdity to be had, and NO ENTRY FEE to the convention (some events do have a fee). You should check out:
* Friday night movie screening at the Screening Room: What We Do In The Shadows (a comedy mockumentary about vampires)
* Saturday trade show at the library
* Saturday and Sunday there are three different groups doing swordfighting demonstrations at the library
* Saturday there is a board game tournament, with 4 rounds and different games played each round
* Saturday and Sunday there is open board gaming at the library
* Saturday there is D&D all day long, 4 different sessions!
* Saturday night there is another movie screening at the Screening Room: the Dungeon Master Double Feature (first movie: Dark Dungeons, a parody of those religious cartoon things that say D&D makes you worship satan; second movie: Zero Charisma, a comedy about a dungeon master with poor social skills who struggles when he meets a gamer who is well adjusted and well liked)
* Sunday there is a Pandemic tournament, hosted by our games club
* Workshops both days, including costuming and drawing
