Is there any possibility of Chaos marines not getting smacked with the -1 for non-native troops units when running cult marines? I ask because they’re in no way equal to a crisis suit or marine bike as a “stand-in” troop unit. Mainly because a scatterbike is 3 points more than a single Thousand Son. (That’s including the points for the scatter laser.) doesn't wraith of magnus give an alternative way to build T.Sons with rubric marines as troops? I thought I heard that through the grape vine.

Doesn’t matter sadly as they’re still not “native” to the troop slot. Plus then I’d have to run Magnus; and I’m just not willing to be that guy.

He’s got a GD 18” Strength D beam weapon that he casts on 2’s and NEVER perils… He just flies around the board and D-beams things to death. Every list that had him in it is basically just a bunch of cultists running around hiding while he goes to town and there’s a few other guys in there to soak some damage/try buffing the cultists to stay alive a bit longer. Not really a list I saw and thought would be a good idea.
Edit: Or could stomach running at the end of the day. Ranged D is bad enough, but an 18" beam he can cast every turn is the kind of abusive that turns people off to the game.

In all fairness to Magnus, he is 1/3 of your army. so he does have to have a pretty big back pack to carry the army in.

But he is expensive points wise. and it has counters like khorne things that deny on a +2. or sisters of silence or that assassin. And is d beam to horde of cheap models. Its no more gross then those not scattering d flamers elder can bring with dark elder. For a lot cheaper. And during the club some of the missions would be bad. For a fmc. I can wait for the day i play against someone with him and i roll that an enemy psyker dies and becomes herald on the warp storm table. Lol there goes 650 points lol

When will we know what our Judge's Discretion comp is? Is it like a Saturday morning surprise when we get there?

When will we know what our Judge's Discretion comp is? Is it like a Saturday morning surprise when we get there? There will be someone assisting me with all the comp scoring (who is not playing in the tournament this year so no conflict of interest) and we want to make sure that all the lists are accurate according to the matrix, then look at the field as a whole and see if it works as intended, as well as any outliers we didn't account for.
then we tack them up against a wall and throw darts at them. You get hit with a red dart that's a minus 2... blue dart is a +2.
we figured that was the easiest way.
then at the beginning of the tournament if you dispute your comp score, we'll have you hold the list and we'll throw darts again to see if we were wrong

Just an official statement - this FAQ/comp system is no longer valid for our tournies. It has been invalidated with 8th edition.
