While we are increasingly accustomed to using only urban environments as terrain, we should also remember that there are other environments that can provide hard cover and LOS blockers (eg. the Alberta badlands). Only playing urban, or any other single terrain, tends to narrow your focus, fossilize your tactical thinking, and becomes boring.
That aside, I recall that Mike and Raven were going to review the existing terrain for repair and utility first. Once we know what and how ambitious their plans are (and how many actual volunteers) we can begin looking at what types of ADDITIONAL terrain might be created. They are in the driver's seat for this project so let's see their initial plans first.

I’m in and can donate time and tons of material. I grab a lot of odds and ends from the construction sites I work on. Any idea when you want to do this? I will need a bit of a heads up so I can ok it with the wife.

Thanks for the offer. The help is always welcome.
As for times, I'll be discussing that with Mike tomorrow. I don't want to commit to anything until I've done so, but was thinking in about two weeks.

The dates are set. Sunday August 19th, we'll be meeting at the store to build terrain, and Sunday August 26th we'll be meeting to do the painting. The week gap will give all of the glue and other materials plenty of time to dry.
I spoke with Mike about how the community can help support the store with this, and the simplest option (based on what's been discussed and offered) is for the community to be the ones who absorb the cost. There are two ways this can work: either people can donate whatever materials and supplies are within their means to contribute, or we can take up a collection and I (and someone else) can go and buy what materials we think will be needed. Discuss if needed, but please decide by Tuesday at the latest.
Organizing the shelves was discussed quite a bit as well, and I think I have a simple way to help do so. The plan is to place a numbered label on all of the shelves, and then just write the number on a sticker that we attach to the terrain that goes on a specific shelf. This is just one idea, and if anyone has a different approach that they think would work please let me know.
Materials and tools:
I have the following: A hot wire cutter, a hot wire table, about 3 liters of white glue (pva), an exacto knife, sand (roughly 50 pounds), one 2 x 2 sheet of mdf (can get more if needed), a jig saw, various sized paint brushes, various colours of crafting paint, pins, a hot glue gun, scrap foam for making scatter boulders, a factory texture rolling pin, a Cthulhu texture rolling pin, wire (for making armatures), a leaf punch, card stock, some scrap corrugated card board, dry wall filler (spackle), and the standard assortment of miniature preparation tools.
As far as I can tell we need the following: at least four full sized sheets of inch thick insulation foam, at least 5 standard sized sheets of foam board, more mdf (optional, only needed if we want to add bases -also, not the safest thing to cut in an enclosed space), exacto knives and fresh exacto blades (basically one of these per person), flock, pins (essential for holding drying buildings together), tooth picks, kabob skewers, various sizes and lengths of doweling, clump foliage. We could also use assorted beads, gears and other bits for adding decoration and embellishment.
This is just a partial list of what I think we'll need, if anyone thinks there are extra things needed, then please post them below. Also, if you have something you think would be useful or could be used to make a cool terrain piece please bring it.

I can grab some stuff and donate to the cause... I'm out of town the weekend of the 19th, but I can drop some stuff off at Nexus beforehand...

Before I forget: we will also need more paint and brushes. I only have so much paint, and it won't be enough for this terrain. Dollar store paint and cheap craft paint from Michaels both work fine.

More things we'll need: cutting mats and newspapers.
Sorry for all of the updates, I'm adding stuff as I remember it.

While I wouldn't have time to help, I could drop off some craft paint I have that is from micheals and walmart.
I'll also try to move some things around, see if I'd be able to stay to help. If not, the paint will have to do.
Speaking of which, when would I be able to drop off the paint? Just the day of the 19th, or could I bring it earlier and ask Mike to set it aside for the 19th?

It's worth noting that I also have two small tubes of dollar store super glue I can donate to the cause if needed.

Actually, I should be able to come along the day of the 19th to help after all. Also, for what it's worth, i should get paid the 15th, and would be willing to go buy some more craft paints for the cause.
Other than paints, is there any other cheap things I could try to get? I should note, I'd be riding a scooter/motorcycle thing, so am limited to what can fit in my backpack, so I can't bring big pieces or things like that. I may try to pick up some paint brushes at Walmart though.

Paints and brushes will be a big help. Thanks We'll defiantly need a lot of black, white, grey and a whole spectrum of browns. Any metallic colours should also be helpful. As for other materials, I don't know what other people are bringing yet. When I have an idea of what we have I'll post a general call for what we still need. I'll talk to Mike about dropping stuff off st the store in advance. When I have a chance to I'll post the details.

Black, white, grey, brown. I'll out that on my "to buy" list. I can't guarantee lots, but I'd bring what I can. I also have some metallic blue, green, silver, gold. Would the blue and green metallic paint be useful, or would there be no use for metallics that colour?

Metallics especially are good for random or surprise details.
