Be sure to keep the coffee mug on the opposite side of the workstation from the brush wash pot.
(Or wait until finished coffee, thus ensuring a better degree of attention capacity (one hopes) before getting to painting)
"Derp... "
"Waaagh! Flesh paint really brings out the earthy flavours, of the coffee."

Ah, the age old predicament, suffered by many in some fashion or another.
Much like you, I have learned to keep beverages away from paint water and to use vastly different looking containers.
Welcome to the club!

No, do not avoid the acrylic beverages. Embrace them. Consume them. Let their ancient and colourful powers seep into your taste buds, so that when you shape the tip of your brush, some of their painting potential seeps back into the bristles.
Also, I find that if I swap out coffee for beer (bottle), I have a tougher time messing the cups up. Hard to clean a brush down a thin neck!

I did end up picking up the water pot and almost lifting it to my mouth, while looking at the coffee mug on my left (normally sat on my right) so I may put some serious consideration in to the long-neck idea.
Just having one of them days, over here.

At this point, I just drink straight from the paint pot.
Cuts out the middle man.

I started using old yogurt tubs as my water pot long ago to prevent this.
No one accidently picks up a yogurt tub to drink from

I actually do the same thing.

I don't even eat the stuff, but somehow yogurt tubs magically appear on my painting desk.

And excellent means of re-using materials before recycling them, too! (Woot, etc)

I am either just hella clumsy or naturally unlucky or should not sit down to paint until after the coffee has kicked in... Knocked over 3 pots of paint, this week. What is the lesson to be learned? I am sticking to paints that come in "dropper" style containers for all future paints purchases. It is less messy, in a general sense, and far easier for loading an airbrush reservoir.
*grumble*

If you like the GW paint colors, you can always buy empty dropper bottles and pour them in; also makes a good container for custom colors.

I have never been overly "brand loyal", when it comes to paint, come to think of it; there are 4 different brands of paints sat on my desk, here. Mostly purchased for function, over form (GW has nice washes, and 'utility paints'. Vallejo has nice droppers for the airbrush. Ceramcoat is gloriously cheap and thick, for big projects like scenery. Etc.) It had never occurred to me to transfer paints to a dropper and will be keeping my eye open for some good ones. Places like Walmart or Michael's would be good to look for that sort of thing, right?

Yes, those locations might be able to help you out. Though Walmart's craft department and the availability of products seems to vary greatly from location to location. If you're inclined to online shopping, you can usually come across good deals for large quantities on Amazon or eBay as well.

Turns out that Nexus is stocking empty droppers (courtesy of Army Painter) so that is handy.
