Honestly I'm curious as to how the various HQ units are going to work in this version. Because they describe each battalion being lead by one who presumably gives XYZ buffs to the units under his command. Because 8th is all about auras and targeted buffs with X range. Considering the scale that Apoc games are played on, there has to be some major reworking. Though if and when we all go insane and try some Apoc games (boots up battlescribe) assuming I get everything built I've got an army of roughly 5,750 points to play with.
Granted 1600 of that is Lords of War but details.

Yeah.... As cool as it may be to see a big game played, it already takes long enough to play a 2000point game with a horde army. I do not mind, so much, because I have little else.going.on in my life, but others have lives and I do not like imposing on them.
I can only imagine how long moving a few hundred Boyz may take (especially once melee starts)

I agree with that sentiment. Besides, it's sort of against what I like, as I prefer either normal sized games, or skirmish size games, hahaha. Going to huge sized games isn't much interest for me because if that. Plus, I don't have a car, so need to either use the bus, or travel to the nexus via moped, neither of which allows me to bring the amount of models required for an apoc game.

I have played Apoc about once a year since it premiered. Marathon games (I limit myself to one day) that require endurance but a lot of fun. First game my Scout Titan blew up and obliterated almost half of my army. Funny as hell! Number of models is determined by point level chosen (just like 40K) and some of those get pretty high. I've crested 10K and that's nothing compared to some players. Anybody who wants to get a real feel for the thrill of Apoc, talk to Guy. He has a real love for it.

The rumours seem to be that you activate a detachment at a time, and each player alternates 1 for 1. Not sure if that will speed things up, but it definitely means you won't sit around rolling saves for 4 hours while the other player does their turn. which I think is a good quality of life improvement.

Also, units fire as one. So if you have 5 marines, you role one dice for their attack.

Well for those that are still interested in Apoc, miniwargaming released a batrep of Tyranids vs Dark Angels for the game system.

For those who may like to know such things; Mike has a few boxes of Apoc forces, down at the store.

All I can say, for certain, is there were at least 4 boxes (that did not have names on them) and at least one of those contains Orks. What is in the other boxes I had not noticed (distracted by Dreads and such. A shame Kans are kind of pan-fried poop)
