So Impulse and I encountered this and did not come to a definitive conclusion as to whether a player can be intercepted. Would anyone be able to shed some light on this situation, please? Is it treated like a normal interception? Does the thrown player "land" as per normal conditions of landing on another player?

To my knowledge, thrown players cannot be intercepted and not change was made to that rule when the latest boxed set came out.

Thanks! So the players just pause to gawk at the hapless little pud, flying through the air? Bwahahaha!
Hehehehe.
Goblins are silly-fun!
If a league gets started, I am going to do something about my Troll's ability to throw goblins "accurately"

Yup, they just watch skyward as the little guy is launched.
Now, unless they changed something between the previous living rulebook and the newest edition that I missed, the goblin doesn’t have to be carrying the ball be thrown and there are no rules against throwing the goblin at a square that is occupied.
A popular, and dangerous, tactic against a “caged” player was essentially a “gobbo bomb” where you have a troll throw a gobbo into the cage targeting the ball carrier. It will most definitely cost you the gobbo, but you have a chance of taking out the ball carrier.

Or just Stunty the Gobbo past a few Dwarves and, somehow, tackle the ball-bearer. (That had actually happened)
I get what you're saying, though. Given how slow the Ork roster is (at least compared to teams like Elves and Skaven) it is likely to be done at least once, or twice. Now I just to get better about knowing how throwing a player goes, which is merely a matter of doing it several times and asking questions (when needed)

Practice will make "perfect" in regard to when best toss a gobbo.
I have seen very few Orc teams, personally, rely on the tactic, but it is sound. Having spent quite some time playing an actual Goblin team, I can attest that it can be quite useful, especially against teams that are slow (dwarfs, necromantic undead) and always in your face (dwarfs, necromantic undead, orcs). Lobbing the ball carrier over their heads with their inability to stop it is a strong strategy.
The main pointers I can give is always try to plan this in advance.
Given that you need your re-roll for the turn to guarantee your player lands, it is best to try and set up the throw the turn before. The less chance you have of rolling double skulls when trying to clear the path the better. It is also better to throw a ball carrier that hasn't moved yet that turn, so when they land (hopefully successfully) you can activate them next and run them towards the end zone.
You are right though, never underestimate the Goblin. Their ability to dodge and escape from harm can be quite astounding. Just look out for Tackle.
