Some Heresy Era rules for it and it's brother. Weapon wise they look interesting as both are 36" with small Str Decent to poor AP and varying shots. I wonder how (if at all) they'll translate into 40k. One of their special rules is kind of cool, where they can make a shooting attack as if it were the shooting phase when they're near a big knight that gets charged.

The Moirax Armiger/War Dog seems much better than a standard Armiger/War Dog, and for even fewer points.

I can see them filling a very specific role that the typical Armiger/War Dog. with 60" rang,e the typical Armiger is a highly mobile long-range fire platform that can realistically damage most things with -1 AP and 3 damage per wound; though S7 is in a bit of a bad spot in 8th edition. They get 4-12 shots with no chances for bonus hits and are landing them on 3's. So: 5 or 6 hit on average, 4 of them wound, and 2 go through for 6 damage.

The moirax with the "best" loadout (double lightning locks) is 17 points cheaper, drops to 36" threat range; but gains the ability to generate bonus hits on natural 6's to hit and is guaranteed 12 shots. Better AP, but only 1 damage apiece. So: 8 shots land, 2 of which grant a bonus hit for 10 total, 6-7 wound, for 6-7 wounds. Statistically the same damage, but arguably better depending on your target as it's more single models slain likely.

You could also split their roles and load them with a Conversion Beam Cannon and lightning lock, giving them a long-range tankbuster and a “close” range anti-infantry gun (as you can’t double down on the beamers). Allowing them the ability to crank out 1-3 shots at up to 54" with a whopping S10 // -2 AP // d=4 PER SHOT. Couple that with them not having the "you can't move" penalty that all other FW c-beamers have, and this is another combo that could do some work. Plus they're still 7 points cheaper than a double autocannon armiger.

I'm not sure if you can demonic surge the war dogs or not... but if you can, then at infantry killing, there'd be nothing better than a double lightning lock as it'd crank them to D2 per shot at S7, which for their cheaper points makes them the very clear winner in the "which war dog is right for me?" debate.

You can, although keep in mind that daemonic surge only affects a single weapon, so only one Lightning Lock will be firing with the improved profile.

Also, these guys are now for sale. Though, they are fairly high priced, I'd recommend doing a kitbash of the weapons you want and just magnetizing your existing Armiger/War Dogs.
