Ok, so I had gotten out of 40k, but I miss being able to play with minis, as I can't do Thursday night for Age of Sigmar, and nobody seems willing to meet at other times for a game. However, I've noticed that people do seem to be willing to meet tiems that aren't Saturday afternoon for a game of 40k. As such, I may have to come crawling back to 40k to get my fix. I play orruks in Age of Sigmar, so why not orks in 40k? (For those that don't play Age of Sigmar, an orruk is just what GW calls orcs now)
With that being said, I have an Ironjawz force for Age of Sigmar. As such, I have spare Ironjawz bits laying around. Are these parts and such compatible with 40k orks? What about Bonesplitterz models? Would they be able to mix and match parts with orks?
Also, say i did get back into 40k. Would anyone object to me using what is obviously Age of Sigmar orruks, but with guns slapped on? I live the look of Age of Sigmar orruks, and love the flexibility of 40k orks kitbashing, so just want to check if that's ok with anyone. I mean, if the parts do fit together, I'd love to make orruk brutes or ardboyz with guns and such. Hell, I'd even get some bonesplitterz if they'd work too, just to kitbash.
How are orks anyway? I've long since given up on actually winning any games (I still have fun in Age of Sigmar despite never winning, hahaha), but in 40k I usually would be frustrated as I would have most of my models die the first round, and that would pretty much decide the game, as I wouldn't have enough left over to even put up a paltry resistance. Maybe my play style is just wrong, who knows.
That being said, if I wanted to go with a green tide approach. with some ground vehicles thrown in for good measure, how would that do? For clarification, I would not use any of the planes orks have, I'd never even consider a stompa (Maybe one of those Gorkanaut or Morknauts though), and have mostly infantry. I just like the idea of a footslogging army with a bit of armoured back up. I'm not the type that makes an entire army of only tanks or walker or whatever. (I'd like to note that even though I say that, I harbour no ill will towards anyone that does. Play whatever style you like)
And lastly, I figure that a good place to start if I do go down this route is the start collecting. However, I am aware that not all start collecting boxes are made equal. As such, I just wanted to know if this particular start collecting was any good,or if I'd be better off starting from scratch? Is it good enough to be worth getting more than one of to boost the army?
Actually, one last question: does the ork codex have all the current units and such? I can't remember if the speed freak set came out before or after the codex, so I have no idea if they'd be in there.
Anyway, sorry for the long post. Thanks for bearing with me.
