Is it me or has GW's brushes quality go down, yesterday I painted for 8-9 hrs and I don't find there brushes last for very long painting sessions anymore my base brush is isn't splitting per say but peeling like a banana and I'm not abusive or rough on my brushes and I wash them off every 30 - 60s in my mater pot, I've been looking to get Raphael 8404 or da-vinci Paint brushes and was curious if anyone has sable hair brands they use or recommend and where they get them I.e store or site.

their brushes are hot garbage... I never use them anymore. they split something awful.
I order Winsor Newton Series 7 brushes from Jackson's Art Supply overseas... expensive but really like them... have also heard VERY good things about the Raphael 8404 as well as people swear by them.
once you start using Kolinsky sable brushes for detail, you won't ever go back to GW
If Nexus sold sable brushes I would certainly buy them locally, but the higher end ones just aren't available here. And NOT synthetic sable.. real deal or no deal. sorry weasels, you just make good brushes!

I've been using Rosemary and Co series 33 sables for the last couple of years. I'm no pro painter, but I can certainly appreciate the step up in quality.
I haven't tested them against W&N or Raphael's myself (the two big names) but the reviewers who have done so seem to indicate thay Rosemary's can hold their own. Maybe not quite as good, but also reasonably less expensive. Certainly better bang for your buck than GW's.
The main drawback is that they only come from the UK, so that flat $20 shipping fee is unavoidable. Last time I ordered I was in edmonton, and even with the shipping fee it was significantly cheaper than buying a set of W&N from the local art store.

What sizes do you normally use and i might look at them if I need a really specific size and don't want to wait for shipping.

I use size 1 for most things, size 0 for smaller details, and occasionally a size 2 for larger surfaces

Okay hopefully my size 3 won't be to big to use on most minis, size 2 was out of stock at the time, and its good to hear a 1 is the standard brush for everything.

so after a few week's of painting with the brushes I'd say they are more than well worth the time and money for them, the brush holds the pointed shape very well and if a few hair's split off, they fold back into the brush very easily with no effort. I've been a bit abusive on them than I normally am to test the limit's and they would last well past that of a GW brush, what i did was instead of rinsing/washing them off in my waterpot every 30-60 seconds I was doing it every 2-4 minutes for a whole 8 hour paint session and what happened at the end there was some minor splitting but after cleaning the brush with brush cleaner (the masters) and conditioning it over night it was like new went back to shape and i have had no issues since then, they hold and give paint thinly/spread very well.
point's
Pro's -----------
can last my 8-10 hour paint sessions
don't need to rinse every 30-60s (but recommend to)
evenly distributes paint very easily
hold & retains shape very easily
hold's a nice amount of paint on bristles
easy to clean
nice long hair's so hard to get paint in the ferrule/heel
cheaper than GW brush's (which was surprising to me for being kolinsky sable hair)
good control
Con's ---------
handle feel's sort of cheapish (wooden handles with plastic coating over it)
the golden lettering on the brush is starting to wipe off
wait time for the brush's (but that's not really a brush issue more Canada distributor)
Final verdict one Raphael brush is worth 4 GW base M brush's ( and costs less then 1 GW brush)
I, would buy these brushes again and again i think i might look into some of the other big brands but i really like these and it's a night and day difference to me going from GW.
If any issue's happen to arrive I will update them here.
