www.warhammer-community.com/2020/10/26/inside-imperial-armour-compendium/Ok, that link up there shows the table of contents for the New Forgeworld book that will be coming up. I decided to make this it's own thread as opposed to throwing it in the thread about combat patrol boxes, to perhaps increase visibility. I don't know enough about Forgeworld to know if this is true or not, but I've been told, and have heard, that many models are not in the book, and are instead being moved to Legends status. I can't confirm this, as I don't know enough. Well, I hope this helps.

yeah there were alot of forgeworld units which weren't being made anymore (their molds were not replaced) so you couldn't get a lot of units anymore - so they hit legends rather than replace millions of dollars worth of molds (literally) for stuff that actually wasn't even selling.
So they cut the book down to the stuff they actually still produce - which is still 191 datasheets!
Forgeworld has always been the division of GW that bled money, so hopefully this will mean better tested rules as they've cut down in half what they have to balance. Forgeworld has a reputation for terrible rules balance... so basically anything they do to make this have a chance at being better is worth it.
- just a history point for those who haven't been in the hobby for long - it wasn't until sixth edition 40k that forgeworld was allowed in any tournaments globally - that's how bad it was... not even GW tournaments allowed them! Since that time though they've become part of the game, for better or worse (mostly worse - just see LVO 2020 which was dominated by leviathan and chaplain dreds - Chaplain dreds are now in legends thankfully)

I really wish GW would have canned the Steel Legion and kept the Death Korps. They're just so much cooler in every way. There's some units I'm sad to see go, but others that needed to leave.
I'm surprised by the ENTIRE loss of the Renegades & Heretics army list. Now there's no chance for renegade guard allied with CSM. I'm taking this with some salt, because there's a duplication of datasheets, the Greater Blight Drone is listed in two places; and I'm not sure why the Death Guard one would be any different from the regular old CSM version.
If this list IS accurate, interestingly; CSM is gaining access to the Sicaran punisher model, but is losing the Hellforged Predator variants as well as Necrosius the Undying. No lie, losing the predators is going to really suck; they were cool variants that filled holes in the CSM tank lineup.

I mean it could be as simple as, on gets the <Death guard> keyword and the DR save, throw a few more points to balance and its a new sheet. I know that my hopes for Death guard (also T.Sons to a lesser extent) is that the new codex gives them some "buffs" just by adding some other chaos units that preexist to the keyword...like why cant DG get disco lords, Havocs, Oblits and bikes? Those seem like the slow moving power shooting units that scream DG to me. With any luck this 2 sheet entry into FW is the start of the dream

Odd question, but does anyone in town play Death Korps? I'd like to, as they are awesome models, but forgeworld only is a big problem. Oh well.

Feeling pretty good about not buying that y'vahra right about now.
Not super sad to see relic dreads pushed closer to the regular version, but also paying a cp for them seems a bit lame.

So from what I hear the Seraptek construct got even worse in this edition? Ah well, it's still a nice display model.

Oh boy... Thousand Sons no longer have the option to pick ANY of the units from the book and Death Guard only get the drone...
Thanks FW, I fucking hate you too.
Glad that the FW knights went down in points a bit though, but it sucks that they lose 2" of movement and a wound, but on smaller tables it wont be that big a deal I feel like.
