imgur.com/a/HIYOdToOk, those models up there were just dug up out of my things recently. I figured that maybe I could eventually find a use for them. Anyway, way back when I had first wanted to try getting into 40K, I got a box called "Dark Vengeance". It had Dark Angels and Chaos marines. I didn't know what I was doing at the time, and they all turned out horribly. I recently stripped two of the Chaos models I still have to the best of my ability (they both still have a few flecks of paint that are really stubborn and won't come off), and posted the pictures of them right here. I was wondering if they can still be used. I'm aware I'd have to rebase them, as they are both on 28mm bases. If I can still use them, what can they be used as, and what base size would they require? Would it just be 32mm as most marines are now, or would they be special models with bigger bases? If pictures from other angles are required, let me know. Also, any advice on how to rebase them would be greatly appreciated. My plan was just to file the bases down flat, and then glue them on top of bigger bases. This would hopefully reduce the risk of breaking the models themselves. However, if there is a better way, I'm all ears.

Models are a chaos lord (with power sword and plasma pistol) and an aspiring champion. Lord was specific to just that box, I believe, but the champ is now sold on his own. Lords use 40mm now I think? Not sure on the other guy.
If they are stuck down with plastic glue it's a bit more difficult than super glue, but I generally just slice a hobby knife in there as best I can until I can pry them off the base. A little knick in the boot is easy to hide with basing material, or even greenstuff.

I think I have a spare 40mm base somewhere. Thanks.

So, as an update, I have found both a 40mm base for the lord, and a 32mm base for the other guy. I have also removed both from their bases. The lord was easy, as he has a slot base, so I could simply bend the base itself at the point and easily break it off with no damage to the model. I then clipped away the worst of the bar that is supposed to go into the slot, and shaved the rest away with a knife. He's now ready to go onto a new base. Just need to pick a paint scheme, and figure out how to do the base properly.
I want to do the base separate, as what I have in mind would be much easier that way.
