Hello!
New player, million questions.
So, several Tyranid abilities - okay, a few specific abilities - add units to your army.
(Specifically the Tervigon, but also there's a stratagem that spawns Genestealers.)
Do I pay points for those guys, before the game?
... if so, what's the advantage of (especially) the Tervigon?

tervigon replenishes units so that's free. as are spore mines created by bivores and sporocysts.
genestealers aren't free with the strat though. The advantage of the tervigon is he returns slain models to your termagant units for free. Otherwise it doesn't have a whole lot of anything going for it.

Tervigons can also create units of Termagants - this does cost Reinforcement Points.
The general rule of thumb is that if you are adding new units to your army, you have to pay points. If you are resurrecting slain models, up to the unit's starting strength, this is free. Spore Mines have a specific exception, so it doesn't cost points to add new units of Spore Mines via Biovores, Harpies, etc.
