Acceptable Deathwatch colours?

So, I'm interested in Deathwatch a bit, as I'd like something to do while waiting for a Chaos Marine codex, and Deathwatch already have theirs. 

However, the official colours look difficult, as making black look not flat is difficult for me. However, since other than a shoulder pad they are the same as other marines, they can be mistaken for generic marines pretty easily if painted another colour. So, that makes them a bit difficult. 


So, assuming I was to keep the silver arm, what do you guys think would be acceptable colours for Deathwatch, that would still make them look like Deathwatch?

Realistically the visiual of deathwatch can be broken down to 3 things

1. Monocolour armour (traditionally black)

2. Metallic right arm/shoulder pad (traditionally silver)

3. Variable left shoulder w chapter iconography


Honestly if you wanted to do red bodies with gold arms and variable chapter shoulder pads, or any other combination....you would get the same visual read (though non-canonical....but they are your toys so who cares)

If you wanted to stick close to the black, you could go with very dark blue or green instead....but honestly I think a radical change would be more striking on the table.

Thank you. Yeah, I guess as long as I'd have the metal arm ,and the upgrade sprue to have the special shoulder pad, I would be fine. And worst comes to worst, I guess I can just tell people it's Deathwatch, and that those are the rules I'd be using.

So, I have some Deathwatch now. I've decided on a colour scheme as well. Basically, it would be a turquoise/blueish similar to the armour of my Ironjawz from AoS, with a gold arm. The arm is gold rather than silver as it contrasts against the rest of the armour better. Also, I still wanted a metallic arm, hahaha.

Now I just need to finish assembling some of these guys so I can get to that point.
