Just wondering how the old Tomb King players feel about the new army book. Is it what you hoped for? Is the army better now? How is their magic phase and did GW make special fear rules to make fear better for Tomb Kings?

Speaking as a TK opponent vice player, the new book and rules are definitely better than the old rules (which were really OLD) but definitely in keeping with the most recent "8th ed" releases for beastmen and O&G. The biggest improvement is the ability of TK and TP to give their WS to their units since it makes the rank and file much more effective. However, since the characters cannot be healed, they are more vulnerable than previously but this puts them on par with every other army except vamps in that regard. Magic is quite different since the movement spell can no longer be used to get into combat and the army still cannot march, making it very slow. On the bright side, the casket can be really nasty and the new lore is more versatile than the old one, albeit with the move spell neutered. The big monsters are just that, big monsters, but the killing blow from riders or other special attacks and T8 makes them a challenge. Overall, nice update but they are definitely not going to steam roller anyone ;D
