Ok, so I have myself a box of Deathwatch Killteam Veterans to put together. They have a lot of options, including some shields. I've looked at the shields stats/rules in the Deathwatch codex, and have a question: How does a squad in which various models have different saves work?
I'll make an example with made up numbers, as I can't remember the actual save values.
Let's pretend that the base invul save is 5+. Shield gives 4+ invul. In a squad of 5, one model has a shield. This squad gets attacked, and takes some wounds. What is the next step? Normally I'd just roll the save in bulk and count the amount of 5+ I have. However, that one model has a 4+ instead. I don't think I can just roll them all at once in that case.
So, am I supposed to roll the attacks one at a time against the shield guy until he either dies or saves them all? If he dies, am I then to roll the rest of the saves in bulk?
Any clarification on the matter would be much appreciated.

choose the model who is taking the saves. You now have to take saves on that model until it dies, using their save profile (4+ invulnerable etc.) When that model dies you move on to the next one. If everything has the same save (ie: five models with a 3+ armor save) you can roll in batches until those models die. (ie: 10 dice at a time for primaris space marines until one dies)

Just to add on top of the above procedure, you have to keep track of which model last took a save in a mixed-wargear-unit as well, as you are obligated to continue to take saves until they die/survive or the current phase of the turn ends (psychic, shooting, charge, fight)
For example, if your opponent shoots a Lascannon at your squad, and you take a save on your storm shield guy because he has an invul and other squad members do not, even if he passes the save, when that unit comes under fire again later during the same shooting phase, the storm shield guy is obligated to be the first guy to take saves again.
There's some strategy/tactics and luck involved in choosing when and where to allocate wounds on mixed wargear units, especially when invulnerable saves, and different save-values are involved. It's one of the trickier things to learn about playing Deathwatch.
