I have to agree it's probably best to wait for the codex as well, at least as far as tournaments go. In other games I'm more than happy to play it, because it's just for fun anyways.
The main reason I say no is not because I think they don't deserve it, or shouldn't be competitive or whatever but because not all players are going to see these forums before a tournament. It feels really bad to show up somewhere to play in a tournament only to see they don't follow the same rules as everywhere else.
As much as I hate to say it, (looks at the ~15k point CSM army on the shelf) it's just better to wait.

That's not an unpopular opinion Ray... it's currently in the lead in the poll to just leave it and wait for the dex.
My opinion is that in casual games people should do whatever they want. If you want to play with W2 csm and your opponent is cool with it have fun! But when it comes to tournaments I cannot houserule datasheets and points for a codex for tournaments anymore than I can show up with a fandex to one. Tournaments are for playing the game as written, and although sometimes we have restrictions on things (no LOW's / Supreme commanders at some friendly / narrative tournaments) and if there's a RAI/RAW contradiction we have to look to FAQ's etc. Re-writing a codex is pretty different... and isn't going to be in the cards for a tournament.

I wasn't going to post, since I've hardly played enough really, like 3 games, maybe 4, but I feel that sure the chaos codex might not be in the best place, but I feel that csm is still playable as they are. and yeah it's why I usually have 10man squads cuz a 5 man will evaporate. and sure i haven't really a lot, but the matches werent steamrollers either.
I personally would rather wait for the new codex, and see what GW has in store. both deathgaurd and thousand sons seem to be pretty awesome, and all the new codexes in general seem fairly well done, in terms of flavour and lore and how the armies feel etc. so I'm kinda excited to see what's in store for 2022 year of chaos boons

Having started grey knights in 8th edition, I understand. Yet it can be a great oppurtunity for success when you win. Maybe just don't play against admech and the dirty dark elves lol a lot. I would say just wait it out, house rules should be universal ones not faction specific imho.
