I've had some of the stream on in the background so far this weekend, have to say, having Nick Navanti as a commentator on the stream has made a _big_ difference in the quality of the commentating.
While they are spending a lot of time explaining the rules of the game in detail for newer players, Nick is also managing to be engaging and talk about strategy and important tactical advice for intermediate or expert players too.
The games themselves are not as interesting so far, it's very clear this is a highly-competitive event from the army lists and play I've seen so far, but the commentating has made a big difference.

Hahahaha
Final game timed out at T4
Top table only was given extra time to play T5
Had they not played T5 and been stuck with their bottom of T4 scores, neither player would have been in contention for 1st anymore

Admech vs Sisters for the final was actually pretty boring to watch.
The 3rd/4th place table was a way more interesting game when they were cutting over to it. The Blood Angels list that was ultimately victorious for 3rd was an interesting list from what we saw of it.
I'm curious to read goonhammers take since this is essentially the reverse result of last time. Admech with a strong showing post-nerf.

Yeah top table game was a snore
Ad Mech basically took 3 passive secondaries and grabbed the middle obj early then just sat

I mean if you can win by doing nothing but standing still. It does put the onus on the other player to take the initiative. It's one of the reasons some list are so strong. If you can build a list that will passively win you can force action and create places for the enemy to make mistake. Boring but effective.

Exactly, and I csn appreciate that The problem was the guy wjo lost, in an attempt to not make mistakes also played boring....but at a points deficit turn over turn.

I have to disagree, John attacked the castle properly and aggressively, the problem was the Richard stacked a HUGE number of command points into strategems to help a key moment, and rolled extremely hot during that key moment as well for the counter-attack, and turned what _should_ have been a 5-5 primary trade turn into a guaranteed 10 for him. Which ended up being the winning points because the game ended 84-82.
