Apparently if you already own Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine on Steam or Console, you've automatically been upgraded to Anniversary Edition for the 10 year anniversary of the game.
If you happen to have the game installed, (or go ahead and install it now) you will get all contents of the game for free, this includes soundtracks, DLC, basically anything that was related to this game in any form is now included with the game, and is free.
It is rumored this is part of drawing attention to the game in preparation for announcement of "Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2", but salt is needed with this one.

I'm fascinated by whatever internal business logic motivated SEGA to both upgrade owners to this new version at no cost while also tripling the sticker price to a eyewatering $69.00 CAD.
If you own Space Marine and haven't played it, it's worth your time - I'm amazed its the only game in its design space given how solid it is. If you don't own it don't pay $69.00 CAD for it lol.

Believe it or not, it's not actually an increase in price. We'll just consolidate all the DLC and optional extras into the game itself and combine the price tag! #Winning! Effectively, SEGA no longer has to test/maintain the game in several formats and possible variations, in exchange for forcing new-players who want to play the game to pay for a bunch of collector's junk that no one was buying anyways. The price will likely "drop" suddenly when SM2 is announced or they'll give the game away for free with a "used to be $69! Get it this weekend for free!" as a promo. But yeah, definitely don't pay $69 for a nearly 10 year old game if you don't already have it. It'll be on sale soon enough.

It really was an awesome game, and the multiplayer was really cool as well. I'd go so far as to say that it was "revolutionary" for its' time.

I mean that may be but the DLC is basically all worthless since multiplayer has been dead for years, and it was all overpriced when the game was new. So lumping it into the base single player experience qualifies as a price increase in my book because in a very real sense you now pay more for the same thing. This is par for the course for SEGA but SEGA's entire pricing scheme is anathema.

As a software engineer with many years of experience, I am very familiar with the logic that leads to this type of asshattery.

We're on the same page I'm just whinging because I like Space Marine a lot and always recommend it to people, but SEGA is determined to make that as hard as humanely possible I wonder if a theoretical Space Marine sequel would feature Primaris marines and if they could do something neat with that. A lot of weak lore beats in Warhammer have been rehabilitated by good writers.

Another fun fact was the Anniversary Edition was part of the game bundle that came with the White Dwarf pack they released.
I had it for PS3 originally and loved it. Still remember being stuck on one of the later stages until I stumbled upon an autocannon accidentally which suddenly made that section super easy
