Hey.
Want to make sure im doing it right.
Do Necrons get Reanimation rolls from Mortal wounds in the Psychic phase? Does smite ect count as a shooting attack?

no they do not
only shooting and melee attacks, which mortal wounds from smite are not.

There are a few other places too - effects like mortal wounds on the charge, - hit with a bomb or bomb like effect in the movement phase. - mirror match a C'tan power while occurring in the shooting phase isn't a Shooting attack so also no reanimates there. - vehicle explosions

A few more (strange) places that don't get reanimation:
- Failures of Morale or Combat Attrition Tests (things like Kabal Of the Poisoned Tongue can make Cron's fail morale) - Psyker's exploding from Perils of the Warp, or effects that trigger perils like Special Issue Bolt Pistols - Models killed due to being unable to be legally placed during a forced-transport disembarkation.

Ya I only know theses because they are the same affects that drones for tau CAN NOT tank. Drones sadly only work for "attacks" which means a to hit roll must be made. A big change from 7th when they could take ANY damage.

Black Templars and Death Guard also both have grenade-like relics that inflict mortal wounds without making an attack.
Or Orbital Bombardments.

So you only get rp against shooting attacks in the shooting phase or close combat attacks in the fight phase. Anything else gets around it.

not exactly.... but generally that's the case... reanimation states:
Each time an enemy unit shoots or fights, after it makes its attacks, if any models in this unit were destroyed as a result of those attacks but this unit was not destroyed, this unit's reanimation protocols are enacted and those destroyed models begin to reassemble.
So if you are shot or fought outside of the shooting / fight phase you still get reanimation (ie: the psychic power hysterical frenzy for example)

Notable as well if you wipe a squad in one go they do not reanimate as they have no squad to be placed in the cohesion of.

Well this is great. I wasn’t sure if psychic powers classified as shooting attacks. The rest of these I knew. And thanks for helping me confirm. I was doing it wrong. Now I know. And knowing is half the battle….
