I watched through the finale of the TTT Titanthon game where they previewed the Leviathan rules. They had purposely built a very fun-and-friendly list out of the dex because the Titanwatch (Deathwatch) army facing it was quite weak in terms of cohesiveness and was more of a cool-modelling project than an optimized army build.
I gotta say tho, the rules for bouncing those buffs around off Synapse is hella-strong. Being able to get exactly the buff you want/need at a given moment on a certain unit is VERY powerful. Had the list they played been more competitive oriented, containing things like Zoans, Hive Guard, Biovores, etc. It would have literally leafblowered the table.
The stealth-nerf to Symbiostorm honestly a good thing to keep things from getting _too_ out of control with these changes. If not this clearly would have turned into Codex Hive Guard if it wasn't already there.
The changes look VERY good, at least on paper and from I saw on stream. I was right there with you on this was going to be a nothing burger, but I suspect we're going to see some seriously powerful Leviathan lists once the book is officially out.

I'm glad that it looks more positive then other books but it still feels a bit like putting a fancy hat on. It make the thing stand out but it still glaringly obvious that its still just a dude in a t-shirt. I'm really ready for all these codex to get to 9th. Then give me the fancy hat supplements.

oh I'd MUCH rather a new codex than these supplements (I've bought two previous ones - book of fire and blood of baal and each time am frosted a bit at the $60 for six pages of useful rules pricepoint)
But I like where they're going with the synaptic links mechanic. I'm not sure how anything much is going to change with the army though until either the monsters get more survivable or cheaper. It's not like warriors are going to ever kill anything after all.

I bought the book of fire, but I didn't mind because I don't have any of the psychic awakening books so the chaos appendices are nice to have in 1 book. plus rules for belakor was a bonus.
however, I would rather see a new codex for an 8th ed army, but I also Understand the wait is real too lol, so a boost to/tide over rules makes sense.
