With events coming back, games at Nexus becoming a thing again, any plans in the works for a Sigmar event? Do we have the player interest to support a small one, probably casual?
I haven't been to one in Kingston yet because I got into Sigmar just in time for the pandemic to kill in-person events. Since then we've had a ton of balance overhauls, new books and an entire new edition so I'm not even sure what the community looks like atm

I would totally run a Sigmar event ... but we need a minimum of 8 people for Nexus to green light it.
If we had the interest though, I'd totally get something together.
I think alot of us are in the same boat right now with AOS - all these new rules dropped and we're trying to figure out what the game is now!

I'd be in, as long as there is enough advance notice for me to book the day off if needed.

Besides myself my two regular opponents Rick and Kevin both have Sigmar armies and would be extremely likely to attending based on scheduling and availability. So with them, me, Alex( ) and you that's already 5! How ought one otherwise go about gauging interest- just ask people they know who play, I guess?

I'd do my best to attend if it was on a saturday where I didn't have to work. Casual definitely preferred haha.

Has to be casual and new player friendly 1000% the scene here isn't big enough to support a competitive environment and events should be catered to adding players not driving them off

Oh for certain would be casual (hell I haven't even read the rulebook yet! lol)
I think that we could manage at least 8 players... problem happens day of if we get drop outs etc. but I'll try to get something in place that is extremely new player friendly format.

Yay!
Odd question, but how far in advance are tournies normally planned? I ask as I am pretty sure I need at least two weeks notice to take a day off.

You'll likely have a month or more notice... like I said in the other thread, I need the numbers to justify it first, then Nexus will give me a date. with 40k it's easy because the tournaments fill up in a day... AOS not so much lately, but I'd be super happy if we could get it to the point where it was just as busy. At one point we had more fantasy players than 40k locally and didn't have even enough 40k players to have tournaments... then 8th edition WHFB absolutely destroyed the community and we went from 20+ regular players to three... and then one of the three moved away. When AOS first dropped we had a few players join, but it's been a slow start to try to rebuild the community, then covid happened and everything died off completely. 40k rebounded pretty quickly, but AOS is in a holding pattern, but I hope with the new edition things will get going again. I've already booked a game next Wednesday at Nexus to get my first game in with a friend of mine, hopefully we can start learning the rules a bit

So since last event I've brought another new group of players into the game so obviously atm the focus is on getting through club champs just wanted to start planting the seeds for the next newbie-friendly Sigmar event. These 5-6 players are just building/painting their first minis so maybe a sub 2k event at the end of summer would be a possibility since they'd be sufficiently onboarded to participate by then.
I think the last discussion was anticipating a full-points event next March or April maybe?

AOS next tourney is March... however was planning on getting through Champs first, then will start working on what the next AOS tourney will look like for points, number of games etc.
The tourney will be very new player friendly, that much I know.

I think it was mentioned next tournament was a 2k one but I wanted to pitch the idea of maybe standing up a 1k a player tag team tournament. I don't know if we have the pop for 4 player teams like 40k yet but I know all these new players I'm bringing in are eager to get to an event and 1k lists are more realistic for them to work towards than 2k

we would need 16 players to pull off a tag team event.
only tricky part is the numbers... need to have numbers divisible by four in order to have matchups occur.
whereas normal tourneys it just needs to be divisible by 2
I'm completely willing to run March's tourney as a 1k event, a tag event, or 2k... whichever people want!

I would love a tag event if we can get enough people.

Do we have a rough idea for which weekend in march? Hot Lead is the weekend of the 19th so hopefully not that one
If the timing is right I can basically guarantee 4 attendees between myself, Kevin and my two wards/co-workers Adam and Mike
