Let me preface by saying - I don't really own any of the "meta" choices... have two dominion boxes to choose from and a character I picked up last night as a consolation prize for getting stomped lol
But here goes nothing:
Stormhost - scions of the storm
Triumph - Inspired
Subfaction: Knights Excelsior (makes the annihilators battleline and 1 / phase gets +1 hit/wound if enemy has more models)
Core Battalions - Warlord - extra artefact of power and once per game get an additional CP.
Yndrasta (general) Lord-Imperatant - amulet of destiny (5+ ward) Knight Judicator with gryph hounds - Mirrorshield (cannot be targetted by ranged weapons outside of 9")
10 Vindictors 10 Vindictors 3 Annihilators 3 Annihilators
6 Praetors (bodyguard attached to Yndrasta)
1950 points
Wow that is NOT a lot of models for 2k... grand total of 37 models! (I shudder to think of what skaven or nighthaunt will do to me at 3-4x my numbers!)
I mean it's stormcast so that kind of goes with the territory.
Note to self - when the dragon riders get released don't buy 10 of them... you know you're going to want to... try and resist.

I don't have it in front of me but iirc the FAQ ruled the praetor save a ward which I think interferes with Yndrasta's save.
She's already tanky as heck though and is more than twice as fast as the praetors so it probably makes more sense to attach them to one of the other squishier chars so she can zip around freely
I might pack in some more battalions. Hunters in the heartlands always seems like a good choice.

Just double checked, no mention of praeters at all in the FAQ

In classic GW style it's in the core rules FAQ only 14.3 WARDS ...[unrelated questions] Q: Some abilities allow you to roll a dice to attempt to negate a wound or mortal wound, but that roll may have a different effect depending on the score of the dice (as per, for example, the ‘Soul-forged Guardians’ ability on the Praetors warscroll). Are these abilities wards, and is the roll a ward roll? A: Yes. The core rules FAQs clear up a lot of the ambiguity around ward shenanigans basically you only get one roll ever, no loopholes. Edit: I literally hadn't even read the FAQ entry until just now I only knew this because there was like a ten page argument on TGA about the praetors thing which only got resolved when GW spoke up about it

hmmm well that does make a big difference... however instead of a 50% chance to negate with the ward she has a 65% chance to negate with the praetors... so still decent... just not amazing
why would that not be in the stormcast FAQ?

I can only speculate, but my guess would be is that they decided this was a problem with how the ward rule was written not with the praetor warscroll. The FAQ clarifies their intent that every wound-negating roll is a ward, regardless of all other factors. This way they don't have to keep FAQing the same thing over and over.
I actually think it's for the best because the 3.0 ward rule was initially something you were going to have to argue with your opponent about basically every game so this way it's less ambiguous. They could have referenced the ruling in the SCE FAQ though, for clarity.
