I still think deciding first turn according to drops is a terrible idea, but since it exists, I can understand why some armies are going to take the 1 drop battalion. Not me though. Warlord and Hunters, every time. The rest may as well not exist.

Warlord and Hunters, every time. The rest may as well not exist. 1000% agree. On both halves, because deciding first turn wins competitive games but is extremely boring. It's a bizzaro change too because the "Warscroll battalions break deployment" problem was easily fixed by making 1st turn not based on drops, but instead they fixed the problem in the most roundabout way possible while also preserving the underlying mechanic for... reasons. Honestly I'm still not even sure core battalions add anything interesting to the game. Adds a lot of very uninteresting busywork to list construction which all I'm really deciding is "Is this a fun list or a comp list".

I definitely like that extra enhancement, but where to put it is really the only choice I'm making. Hunters is strong if there are monsters, and really not much of an opportunity cost if there aren't.
All the ones that effectively give you 1 free cp that you can only spend on one specific thing are just not worth building a list around.
I'd be fine with nuking battalions, giving everyone 1 extra enhancement to add to the category of their choice, and making first turn a straight roll off. Boom! Unnecessary complexity to list building and gaming the first turn gone.
