www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Bbp98oMsjAThere you go. Ogres have been revealed as the pre-order bonus faction for game 3, as well as a reveal of the release date (February 17). On the one hand, I'm looking forward to it. On the other hand, they are DLC, and factions introduced as DLC tend to be less fleshed out, as while base factions get new stuff, it's harder to have DLC come out that requires you to own a previous DLC. It's why the Wood Elves and Beastmen from game one were so bare bones until the last few DLC bits from 2. And hell, even the Tomb Kings from game 2 could use more work. Oh well. Even if it's screwed up, there should be 6 base factions this time around as opposed to 4 (Kislev, Cathay, 1 chaos faction per god). And at some point, there will be an update that will allow you to combine all 3 games together into one map, like they did with the second a bit after launch.

Knew they would be included, content enough with them being the first dlc. I don't like to preorder games as a rule, but I'll end up buying it the day before launch, as per usual with a studio I like. So I'll get them with the launch price. Wont say "for free" because paying $80 for a video game is still a rare and painful experience for me, haha.
I was happy enough with the rest of the dlc factions. Beastmen certainly aren't the best army, but I had a lot of fun with them anyway. Charging in my front line full of minotaurs is probably still my favourite thing to watch in the series. Tomb Kings got me my Legendary achievement.
Definitely looking forward to this game though. All of my favourite factions have been done, but I'm curious to see how they flesh out chaos daemons into four distinct armies.

Ok, so upon looing at the FAQ about the game and pre-order bonus, it seems that Ogres will have two legendary lords. I don't know how many named characters Ogre Kingdoms had, but seeing as how they are DLC and not part of the base game, I fear that they won't get more. I mean, when CA did release DLC for Wood Elves in 2, it was a bit of a mess seeing as how to get the full use of them you needed both games, and the Wood elves DLC for the first game as well. Luckily, I already had all the DLC for the first (I have all for the second as well, and will likely get all for the third). That being said, at some point a while back, Total War Warhammer 2 had an update that added Ogre mercenaries that any faction could hire on. If the Ogre Kingdoms faction will be like those units, they should be a lot of fun.

They may not get more lords, but they could always make something up too, if they wanted to include them in a DLC and ran out of source material. They certainly added a lot more new lords and starting positions in TW 2 than they did for the first game. And they made up an entire faction in the undead pirates.
Can't say what will happem going forward, but I wouldn't worry too much about them being "just a dlc faction". I'm sure they will still be fun to play.

To be fair, while the undead pirates didn't exist as models on the tabletop (at least, not to my knowledge), they did exist in the lore, even if there wasn't much on them (I think there was a spin-off game called Dreadfleet that had more lore on them. It was basically the Battlefleet Gothic game of ship combat, but not in space). But hell, they still had more lore than Cathay, and look at how that is turning out.
To be honest, at first I was annoyed that Cathay was included over things like ogres or chaos dwarves/dwarfs, but upon thinking it over, given the landmass the game is set on, they occupy a large part of it, so it would be weird to not have them right away. That being said, there are still rumours that they are only included due to the success of Three Kingdoms over in China, and as a way to appeal to that market for even more sales. I don't know if the rumours are true or not, and frankly, I don't really care.

I wouldn't put much weight on those rumours. More speculation and pointing out coincidence than anything based on actual information. The internet is full of fools looking for excuses to whine about how everything is "pandering" to a demographic they aren't a part of. Cathay just makes sense given the map, as you've said.
CA seems to really enjoy getting to flesh out the footnotes and hinted at factions of the old world. They spend a lot of time faithfully recreating the actual units, it's probably nice to be allowed to get creative. I wasn't terribly excited for Cathay personally, but they look like they might be my type of army. Mostly combined arms, with a big sexy dragon leading the charge.
I'm interested to see how the ogres play. They seem ripe for a unique faction mechanic centered around eating everything in sight. Wonder if they'll play as a horde. Not my favourite type of campaign, but an interesting change of pace every once in a while.

Man that Ogre trailer was wicked! Love how they have them singing.
I would love to play this game, but I cant justify buying a new computer just for this game. I'll just end up watching people play the game.

Fortunately for me, the PC I bought in 2015 is still running strong. Gaming is my second (much cheaper) hobby, though, so I use it for more than just TW. Definitely sympathize with the barrier to entry though.

You might be able to get buy with just upgrading your video card / RAM depending on the computer (and what kind of upgrades the motherboard support)
would also help speed up everything else you do with the computer too!

I own a steam box from that age when Valve tried to break into the console market with their fancy controller. Its pretty small and hard to update much in that tiny box. I can run newer games on the computer but just at a much lower quality which is fine by me.

On my end, I got a new high end pc just before the first lockdown back in 2020. Used my income tax return on it, and then some. If I still had my old computer (It was 10 years old when I finally got a new one) it would likely explode from just the though of trying to run this, hahaha.
