i.redd.it/ykr1hbovkly71.jpgOk, so that's an image I grabbed from reddit. Apparently it's been making the rounds across other sites as well, and there have been some reports that it had been posted on the Warhammer Community site, only to be taken down right away. So, it's a Nurgle set, in time for the new battletome and model they are getting. Word has it that this is the AoS version of the 40K combat patrols. So, they will phase out the Start Collecting boxes to replace with these. On one hand, it's a good thing, as since the Combat Patrols cost more, they can fit more goodies in there. On the other hand, they cost more, which may scare newer players away. Those were my same thoughts when 40K began to replace the Start Collecting boxes. On another note, people have stated that since the box has mortals and daemons in it, it won't be that great, as you generally want to pick one or the other.

Yeah I saw that rumour come up on TGA. Doesn't surprise me but I think it's a harder sell in AoS especially because the gimmick of combat patrol boxes is you can play a game with them out of the box (not TOTALLY accurate but it's close... ish). A "battalion" box or whatever is still just a stepping stone in Sigmar but it'll have a worse discount and more models which means you're more likely to get stuck with stuff you don't want eating up the discount. It has the added issue that for a new player the more stuff you jam is the more daunting it'll be as a hobby project. I think it's very much a business decision to try and cut out some of the heavy discounts people could rack up with armies that let you buy several SC boxes.
The Sigmar SC boxes are some of the best value GW has ever given and I'll be sad if/when they go away. As an example you can almost make a viable 2k Ironjawz army with just SC boxes. All you need outside is a Megaboss.

An even better example is the Beastclaw Raiders SC box, in which you can make a viable 2000 point army with nothing but Start Collecting boxes, don't need to add anything else. I'm told the same goes for Flesh-Eater Courts.

True! BCR and FEC are both army in a can boxes. Fyreslayers and Kharadron are pretty close too, I'm sure there are more examples. I'll miss em. Those armies were by far the cheapest of anything in any version of warhammer to date.
