I think he might be a bit too spooky for a beginner-friendly tournament. I tried to make the list fairly soft otherwise, but I still have reservations.
Thoughts?
Host of the Everchosen - Chaos Warband
Archaon - General
Chaos Chariot - Mark of Tzeentch
8 Iron Golems - Mark of Tzeentch 8 Iron Golems - Mark of Tzeentch
Fomoroid Crusher Fomoroid Crusher
Chaos Warshrine - Mark of Tzeentch
1490/1500 Triumph - Bloodthirsty Grand Strategy - Vendetta

I honestly don't feel that Archaon is beginner friendly. I don't want to tell people how to build their lists of course, but he is the most powerful unit in the whole game at the moment. Up to you what you'd bring. But I don't find him very beginner friendly.

I'll be surprised if anyone brings an army that can kill Archaeon at 1500. Competitive players reliably fail to manage it at 2k... the game will probably still be winnable on objectives but facing unkillable god pieces isn't a very fun first time experience (ie why I'm not bringing Gotrek lol)

Might be a good boss fight for the winner, haha?

I was thinking I might be able to with kruleboyz with some luck. Be able to turn off his ward save with a spell, and just hope for 5+ poison shots with bolt boyz and the beast skewer as well as if I roll lucky for my relic which can do 2d6 MWs on roll of a 6 otherwise does d6. But looking at his rules I would only do half of those MWs with his fancy armour and he doesn’t even have a Ward save on his warscroll. So maybe if things went well I got him haha

Technically all rolls that negate wounds are ward rolls, so The Armour of Morkar would count as one. Your big issue is that assuming you can even get a spell off at him that would have such an effect he just ignores them on a 4+. That plus his extreme lethality, mobility, all the new toys he has in heroic actions and rampages... it's an uphill battle to even be in a position where you can stick him with anything and even when you are good chance he just shrugs it.

The strategy I've seen work against him is to just ignore him (he can only be in one place at a time). Try and tie him up with screens and chaffe.
