Hi folks. I was toying with the idea of building a 20 man squad of cultists, just because lol, but I'm not a huge fan of the boxed kit. I'm looking for suggestions for a base to kit bash a few.
I was thinking maybe using the bits from the delaque (spelling?) necromunda gang and maybe bash them with chaos warriors from AoS. not sure where'd I'd get the autoguns from tho.
thanks for any ideas.

I bought a box of cadians ar one point for cultist bashes. Was before necromunda gangs were a thing. I think lasguns fit them well enough. Seems reasonable that guard equipment wouldn't be too hard to get ahold of

Would the traitor gaurdsmen from Blackstone fortress kinda be the aesthetic you're going for or more robed cultist? I had to look those up. Those are pretty cool minis! I like the robed feel for cultists, as I feel that they are just bullet sponges, only armed with their madness, and a wee little gun lol. On that note... even a mixed squad of half gaurdsmen / half robed would fit too since these guys aren't really an organized unit in the sense that a csm squad would be. like they'd lack the training (and age, sheer time and exposure to all the crap that dwells in the warp etc). awesome ideas! gets the juices flowing.

Ya the gaurd and chaos beast men mix in the set are pretty cool, I haven't gotten around to painting them but I can imagine some interesting schemes.

I find the cultist "stand-ins" change for each force they're allied with. For my Thousand Sons; I used the Forgeworld AdMech Tech-Thralls with greenstuff "drop cloths" to represent a unit of lesser battle automata led by a single marine. For a Death Guard army, you could use bits from the poxwalkers or gas masked guardsmen with spikes and mis-matched gear. Emperor's CHildren could be some of the AoS hedonite pieces with guns and/or some bits mixed in. There's literally an endless cavalcade of options in kitbashing units together. If you're running Alpha Legion, which memory serves you are... and you like the robed guys, then maybe some of the below base models would help... Hooded rangers www.games-workshop.com/en-CA/Wildwood-RangersNot robed, but definitely Alpha Legion vibed cultist models www.games-workshop.com/en-CA/Slaves-To-Darkness-The-Splintered-Fang-2019Robed, but not actual people, as if the cultists were summoned, would need work to kitbash guns and clubs into their hands www.games-workshop.com/en-CA/Nighthaunt-Grimghast-Reapers-2018Less motion than the other ghost dudes, and with better poses www.games-workshop.com/en-CA/Etb-Chainrasp-Hordes-2018

This thread has really got me thinking about the Emperor's Children army I started to collect, but never got around to finishing. I spent so much time thinking about various conversions and bits.
All I actually painted up was a squad for kill team though, haha.

Thanks for the links, your memory is correct with alpha legion sir. haha. the slaves to darkness minis are pretty sweet and it would be easy enough to green stuff some robes and other chaosy bits... on the flip side knowing my hobby speed means that by the time I actually get to this project chaos may have new models and an actual real life codex lol. maybe. they did say 2922 was the year of chaos. (typo intended rofl) on the flippety flip... then I'd k ow my max squad size and load out. cuz I all fairness I'd like them just for fluff and crusade style stuff.
