I love this. I can't listen to the whole vid at work but it's a discussion central to I think a huge majority of the problems with GW's current design ethos. My favourite go-to extreme example is the (Admittedly Sigmar) Kruleboyz Gutrippas warscroll ability (you can google it since they are a dominion unit). It's a block of text ability that you need to read a couple times to understand and requires very specific conditions and modified dice rolls to take effect. What it does? Well, nothing, essentially. Gutrippaz are a very squishy unit so even when it goes off they probably still get overkilled. It's as close as a rule can be to doing nothing without actually doing nothing, and requires waaaaay too much energy to resolve for its impact. And unfortunately this kind of mechanic isn't exceptional in any game GW prints.
