Sucks to hear. Seems to be a yearly thing though, so not too surprised. I just wish my income saw the same level of inflation. I get that their costs have increased, but so have all of mine.
But, these days I get most of my models used or from discount shops, so the impact should be a bit less. I'll keep buying my codexes locally, but campaign books and 6-monthly supplements are on the chopping block already. Too little content that's too easy to find for free, for far too much money.
At least paint isn't going up!

and a 5% increase on stuff that isn't a battlebox / start collecting / hobby tools is going to be largely unnoticeable at this point.
A few years ago when they did that big price jump though, that one really hurt. Big kits suddenly went from $120 to $170 (ie: greater daemons)... that was massive.

Yeah, I was thinking about buying a riptide for $100, but that was an lot of money for 1 model. Suddenly they were $130.
I've got a bunch of slaanesh stuff, but no keeper yet. Love the model, but haven't found a discount deep enough to justify it.

Ya on some of the bigger kits GW and REALLY pushing people into buying awesome 3rd party models. When people like Creature Caster can put out a boss Greater demon for $80 it makes it pretty tough to drop $170 on a mortarion.
I will say even with kits that I really like the look for Killrig/Hunter Rig the Price tag is a kick in the teeth.

yeah i feel for people getting the more expensive kit's i.e around 140 and up because they are increasing roughly around 7$ or more. I guess i was "Lucky" to get my bigger kit's before this one but I might buy some tau flyer's and a team of crisis suit's before their increase. but i need to paint what I got all ready.

Yeah, I do regret not grabbing that $100 in box stormsurge I saw up for sale before I left edmonton (kijiji is a goldmine out there).
I did end up getting two riptides eventually for about 50% of what they would cost me now. And I think I'm satisfied with 9 crisis. The good thing about tau being fairly mediocre for quite a while was that it was pretty easy to find deals on a lot of things. Except broadsides. Never broadsides. Unless you are willing to buy them already built, but I want all the bits to convert/magnetize mine. I bought one new a few years ago at $50, and felt silly for spending that much. Now they're $65 and soon to be more. So it goes, I guess.
At the moment I'm waiting for the new codex hype to die down and the impending flood on the second hand market from those who thought they did, but don't actually. Until then, I still have a bunch to paint.

dam that's a good catch on the surge and i feel not wanting to buy to built especially for broadside and sometimes crisis suits and yeah I'm kinda waiting for that too so i can get some stealth suit's for cheap maybe and some other thing's I want to fill out my army to full competition.

"Hey, Thomas, why is your list so shitty?" "Cos I bought only units I could afford at the time along the way and was never able to drop dime on the big-bads."
This is how this shit feels - a lot of the time.
Fucking hell... Keeping up with 40k is depressing and upsetting...

Keeping up with 40k is expensive if you want to play competitively. Same as any other hobby. However locally we don't care about proxies and conversions.
If you want to play for fun (ie: not travel to tournaments), especially as orks, you can always convert vehicles from dollar store toys and bits and it can look super awesome.
I know other people who just only buy used models.
You have options!

Another thing you can do is keep your sprues and make units out of it, one of my friends that was getting into it saw the person who made the spruecrons and asked if he could have some of my empty sprues he made some units and painted them and used that with appropriate bases, it does take some creativity to make stuff and time but it can work.
I wouldn't have an issue with that I've even played with someone who paper printed base sizes and pictures of the units they wanted and put it all on cardboard cut from cereal boxes and played like that, I could careless with this one too but I'm not sure if others wouldn't mind.

As long as the base sizes are accurate I personally don't care what they are made of. I've played orcs for a long time and Shannon can atest to some of the crazy kit bashes I've made from dollar stores, toy sales, and other game system models I could get dirt cheap. So really the limit is your creativity so long as you stay within appropriate scale parameters. BTW, 1:48 scale works really well if you get your hands on some mainstream models.

Has anyone else gone through the GW webstore now that the new prices are live to experience some fresh sticker shock?
The first warhammer model I bought outside of a start collecting, or battleforce, when I got into the hobby in 2017 was a broadside battlesuit. I was with my then girlfriend (now wife), and I picked it up at the GW store in Edmonton (I hadn't yet found the 15% off stores in town).
I remember being somewhat embarassed to be paying $50 for a single model, that didn't seem to be very large. Five years later, and that same model would cost me $70. I honestly don't think I would have picked it off the shelf back then if it was at that price. I make a little more money now than I did then, but no where near 40% more.
On the plus side, fire warriors have only gone from $60 to $65 in that same time period. Not that I've ever bought any outside of a discount box.
Fortunately, my Beasts of Choas haven't gone up much this time around. I can still order a box of ungors for $36. That still feels like a win!
And I really did want another broadside. Just ordered one from china. Time to see how the recaster thing goes.
